Spartan is committed to creating a sustainable modern world with innovative automation. Our focus is Customer Outcomes. By leveraging applied automation we assist customers improving their Safety, Reliability, Operations and Productivity.

Our employee ownership model creates a unique culture of community, creativity, entrepreneurship, and a place to build your career. Spartan Controls provides an environment that not only encourages you to do your best, but also empowers you to do what it takes to create a solution, address a need, or respond to an issue.

The Opportunity

Spartan is seeking a practical, service-oriented Learning & Development Administrator to provide temporary maternity leave coverage within the Learning & Development/Human Resources team. This role helps turn learning plans into well-organized experiences by coordinating programs, supporting learners and managers, administering LMS365, and keeping learning content and records accurate and accessible.

You will work with facilitators, subject matter experts, vendors, leaders, and employees across Spartan. The work combines detailed coordination with hands-on problem solving and content support, making it a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys helping people learn while keeping many moving pieces on track.

This is a temporary postion (12-18 months) for maternity leave coverage.

What You'll Be Working On

You will support the day-to-day delivery of learning across the organization, from scheduling sessions and communicating with participants to maintaining digital courses and coordinating career, leadership, culture, onboarding, education-support, and grant-related activities. Your work will help create a consistent, responsive experience for learners and the people who support their development.

Coordinate Learning Programs and Logistics

  • Coordinate instructor-led, virtual, external, and facility-based learning sessions from scheduling through follow-up.
  • Book rooms and resources and coordinate catering, materials, attendance records, participant communications, surveys, recordings, and follow-up messages.
  • Coordinate with facilitators, trainers, subject matter experts, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support effective delivery.
  • Maintain the annual training calendar and communicate upcoming learning opportunities across Spartan.

Administer LMS365 and Support Learners

  • Create, configure, maintain, and retire courses, learning modules, assessments, notifications, and enrollments in LMS365.
  • Manage enrollments, attendance, and completion records, and support course administrators and managers.
  • Respond promptly to Spartan’s questions about programs, access, technical issues, and learning materials; troubleshoot or route issues as appropriate.
  • Support LMS365 audits, content validation, data quality, and adoption of new functionality.

Build and Maintain Learning Content

  • Build digital courses from presentations, recordings, videos, job aids, and subject matter expert content.
  • Edit instructional videos and tutorials and organize content into clear, audience-appropriate learning experiences.
  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of role-specific training plans, curricula, onboarding content, and learning pathways.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to convert operational knowledge into usable learning content.

Coordinate Education Support, Grants, and Development Programs

  • Administer employee education-support requests and maintain supporting documentation and tracking.
  • Prepare and submit Canada-Alberta Productivity Grant and British Columbia job grant applications, completion documents, and reimbursement records.
  • Review proposed training against available program criteria and coordinate required information with employees, managers, and training providers.
  • Coordinate Career Spotlight and support leadership-development programs, including Emerging Leaders.
  • Administer Culture Mentor assignments, orientation support, introductory meetings, tracking, recruitment communications, and program maintenance.
  • Support onboarding-related learning and orientation activities for new employees.

What We're Looking For

We recognize that strong learning administrators can come from different backgrounds. You may have experience in learning and development, human resources, education, business administration, program coordination, event coordination, or a related area. More important is your ability to organize details, provide responsive service, learn systems, and work constructively with a wide range of people.

  • Post-secondary education in learning and development, human resources, business administration, education, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in administration, program coordination, event coordination, or learning operations is an asset.
  • Experience administering a learning management system is an asset; LMS365 experience is especially relevant.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; basic video-editing knowledge is an asset.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical and process issues, identify practical solutions, and know when to route an issue for support.
  • Exceptional organization, customer service, follow-through, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing changing priorities.
  • Professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment when handling confidential information.
  • A motivated, efficient, entrepreneurial, and positive “can-do” approach.

Success in This Role Looks Like

Learning activities are organized and communicated clearly, participants receive timely support, and LMS365 content and records remain accurate and reliable. Facilitators, managers, employees, and business partners know what to expect and can access the information they need. Learning programs continue to move forward smoothly during the maternity leave term, with strong follow-through, practical problem solving, and a consistently helpful learner experience.

Why This Role Matters

This role is a key connector between learning strategy and the employee experience. By bringing structure, responsiveness, and care to the details, you will help Spartan deliver practical development opportunities and maintain important learning programs across the organization.

As part of our recruitment process, successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment security background check.

Spartan recognizes that there are many ways in which candidates develop knowledge, abilities, and competencies throughout their careers. We encourage applications from candidates with a variety of backgrounds and we do consider qualifications and competencies that are equivalent to those specifically mentioned above.
