At STRIVE, we don’t just fill roles — we partner with organizations and individuals to build long-term success.

THE ROLE

Our team is working with a Canadian food manufacturing company in Vancouver, seeking a Millwright and Machinist with strong experience in both areas in a production or manufacturing setting. Preference is given to those who are Red Seal-ticketed. The company is committed to maintaining high operational standards, equipment reliability, workplace safety, and continuous improvement across its production and maintenance operations.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this individual will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing a variety of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment. Working alongside a team of skilled tradespeople, the successful candidate will support preventative maintenance programs, minimize equipment downtime, and ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently.

This is a full-time, permanent, unionized opportunity offering a competitive hourly wage of $52.66 an hour, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Please note: Candidates must be comfortable working a rotating shift schedule consisting of day, afternoon, and night shifts, with occasional weekend shifts and on-call responsibilities. Overtime opportunities may also be available.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, inspect, and repair a variety of industrial machinery, mechanical systems, and production equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to minimize equipment failures, reduce downtime, and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Disassemble mechanical equipment to access, assess, and repair damaged or malfunctioning components.
  • Replace, rebuild, or restore defective machinery parts and mechanical assemblies as required.
  • Maintain and service industrial processing, packaging, and material-handling equipment.
  • Reassemble machinery following maintenance activities and verify equipment is operating correctly.
  • Conduct operational testing and inspections to identify mechanical deficiencies and confirm the effectiveness of completed repairs.
  • Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, adjustments, and mechanical servicing to maintain equipment reliability.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, documenting repairs, inspections, preventative maintenance, and equipment servicing activities.
  • Interpret technical drawings, equipment blueprints, and manufacturer manuals to support machinery installation, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Perform basic fabrication and welding activities to repair damaged components, manufacture replacement parts, and assist with equipment modifications.
  • Work collaboratively with other tradespeople, production personnel, and management to resolve equipment-related challenges and maintain uninterrupted operations.
  • Follow established workplace safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, fall protection, and other applicable safety protocols.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment while following all applicable manufacturing and operational standards.
  • Support additional maintenance and operational activities as assigned by management.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Machinist or Mechanic Millwright Red Seal certification preferred, but not required, or an equivalent Canadian journeyperson qualification.
  • Previous hands-on experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, gear reducers, and industrial packaging equipment.
  • Strong understanding of preventative maintenance practices, equipment inspections, mechanical repairs, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Familiarity with industrial workplace safety requirements, including lockout/tagout, confined space procedures, fall protection, and arc flash safety.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, technical specifications, and equipment manuals.
  • Experience with metal fabrication, welding, equipment modifications, and mechanical component repairs is an asset.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial processing environment is preferred.
  • Food manufacturing experience is considered an asset but is not mandatory.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the mechanical aptitude to identify equipment issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative maintenance team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work alongside other trades, production personnel, and management.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, attendance, punctuality, and maintaining a professional work ethic.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work rotating day, afternoon, and night shifts, occasional weekends, and on-call rotations.

COMPENSATION:

  • $52.66 per hour under a union collective agreement.
  • Full-time, permanent employment.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including dental and vision coverage.
  • Boot and tool allowance.
  • Overtime opportunities available.
