You will also serve as FP&A’s go-to resource for Power BI, analytics and automation. You will support and enhance existing reporting solutions, expand how the team uses technology for planning, analysis and scenario modelling, and identify practical opportunities to use AI and automation to improve FP&A processes.

The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, tech-savvy and proactive in identifying opportunities to improve processes, reporting and analytics.

What you will do:

Investment planning and analysis

  • Coordinate and continuously improve the quarterly investment projection process, working with investment teams to understand key assumptions and drivers
  • Support peer benchmarking activities, including annual report comparisons and participation in CEM benchmarking studies
  • Support investment cost allocation initiatives, including related analysis and methodology development
  • Work with investment teams to prepare investment-related analysis and commentary for the Operating Plan and related quarterly updates
  • Support other investment-related analysis and reporting as required

Power BI and analytics

  • Serve as FP&A’s go-to resource for Power BI, including maintaining and enhancing existing reports and developing new reporting and analytical tools
  • Expand how FP&A uses Power BI for planning, analysis and decision support
  • Analyze large and complex financial and investment datasets to identify trends, drivers and opportunities for deeper analysis
  • Establish clear data definitions, data sources and quality checks to support reliable and repeatable reporting
  • Work with data and technology teams, as needed, on data sources, models and technical requirements
  • Automation and process improvement
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve and automate FP&A processes using AI and other technologies, including quarterly projection submissions, project intake, variance analysis, reconciliations and recurring reporting
  • Ensure solutions include appropriate documentation, data protection and Finance controls
  • Use AI and emerging technologies in accordance with HOOPP’s policies and approval requirements

Collaboration and knowledge sharing

  • Collaborate with FP&A colleagues, investment teams and data and technology partners to deliver priority initiatives
  • Share knowledge, tools and best practices to build analytics and technology capability across FP&A

What you bring:

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or progress toward it is an asset; Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or equivalent is also an asset
  • Demonstrated, applied investment and analytics capability is valued over any single designation
  • At least four years of relevant experience in FP&A, investment analysis, finance analytics or a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of investment concepts, including asset classes, returns, costs, performance drivers and benchmarking, ideally supported by practical investment-related experience
  • Experience analyzing large and complex financial or investment datasets
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and implementing process improvements through automation, improved data management or process redesign
  • Advanced Power BI skills, including data modelling, DAX and Power Query
  • Advanced Excel and experience working with financial models
  • Experience integrating, transforming and analyzing data from multiple sources
