Reporting to the Pricing Supervisor, you will be responsible for preparing and providing accurate and timely quotations to internal and external clients based on their specific needs. This role requires knowledge of market trends, the ability to negotiate rates with suppliers and a focus on competitive pricing while maintaining profitability. Your main responsibilities will be to

  • Prepare and provide accurate shipping quotations to internal and external clients, taking into account factors such as Incoterms, mode of transport, weight, dimensions and volume, using the rate management system;

  • Collect relevant information and prepare quotations;
  • Negotiate rates and terms with service providers;
  • Apply feedback on quotations, as provided by the Pricing Clerk, by making the necessary adjustments;
  • Coordinate with other departments, including Import and Export Operations, to ensure an accurate transfer of information once a quotation has been accepted;
  • Communicate with other departments, including Import and Export, when further clarification or explanation is required regarding issued quotations.

What we are looking for

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience with a freight forwarder in operations or pricing;
  • The ability to work in a technology-based environment using established systems, including a rate management system, Microsoft Office and Outlook, and to produce quality quotations, reports and other documents;
  • Advanced proficiency in English and French, both written and spoken, with the ability to produce clear, well-structured and coherent content and express ideas effectively;
  • The ability to accurately interpret and apply Incoterms in practical situations;
  • Negotiation skills that support agreements meeting or exceeding objectives while maintaining positive relationships;
  • Strong communication and service skills for internal and external clients, including the ability to take their feedback into account;
  • Reliability and consistency in fulfilling obligations and responsibilities while upholding ethical standards;
  • Adaptability and the ability to handle new or different tasks effectively;
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in all tasks;
  • A proactive approach and the ability to assess and prioritize tasks according to urgency and importance, meet deadlines and take action to mitigate risks before they arise;
  • The ability to work as part of a team and contribute to shared objectives;
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and processes, the ability to apply that knowledge and a commitment to keeping up with recent trends and developments;
  • The ability to collect and evaluate information, recognize exceptions to procedures, resolve conflicting information and propose effective solutions to complex problems;
  • Independence and sound judgement when assessing alternatives, making decisions and contributing to the development or revision of internal procedures, while referring exceptional issues to the appropriate person.

The following will be considered assets

  • Business development skills to identify and develop growth opportunities, support client acquisition and retention and improve profitability;
  • An attestation of college studies or the equivalent;
  • Professional training or certifications in dangerous goods, through CIFFA (International Transportation and Trade, Essentials of Freight Forwarding) or through IATA.
