About the Role
Kinetic Custom Trailers is seeking a Process Improvement Specialist to help identify, investigate, and solve operational challenges across the organization.
This role is focused on understanding how work gets done — how information, materials, decisions, and responsibilities move through the organization — and identifying opportunities to make those processes more effective, consistent, scalable, and efficient.
The Business Process Improvement Specialist will work directly with employees, leaders, and cross-functional teams to understand challenges, investigate root causes, map current processes, design improved future-state processes, and help move improvement opportunities into implementation.
This position works closely with the Business Systems & Intelligence Analyst to ensure process improvements are supported by the right systems, information, reporting, and performance measures.
Who You Are
You’re a curious, practical problem solver who wants to understand how work really gets done before deciding how it should improve. You’re comfortable asking questions, working across teams, digging into root causes, and turning complex challenges into clear, workable solutions that people can successfully put into practice.
Key Responsibilities
Process Analysis & Improvement
- Work directly with departments to understand existing workflows, challenges, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies.
- Conduct process diagnostics, observations, interviews, and workflow analysis.
- Map and document current-state processes to understand how work is actually being performed.
- Identify root causes rather than addressing only symptoms.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate, or eliminate unnecessary activities.
- Develop practical future-state processes that improve efficiency, accountability, quality, and scalability.
- Evaluate how changes may impact other departments, processes, and systems.
Problem Solving
- Investigate operational challenges and recurring business problems.
- Gather input from employees who perform and manage the work.
- Use structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis techniques to understand underlying issues.
- Develop practical solutions and recommendations based on operational requirements.
- Evaluate potential solutions based on business impact, feasibility, resources, and implementation requirements.
- Help determine whether challenges should be addressed through process changes, systems changes, training, clearer accountability, or other solutions.
Improvement Project Development
- Help turn identified improvement opportunities into defined projects and initiatives.
- Establish the problem statement, objectives, scope, stakeholders, requirements, and intended outcomes of improvement initiatives.
- Develop recommendations and implementation plans.
- Coordinate with the Business Systems & Intelligence Analyst where systems, data, automation, or reporting solutions are required.
- Support prioritization of improvement opportunities based on organizational impact and capacity.
Implementation & Change Support
- Support departments through implementation of new or improved processes.
- Coordinate activities, responsibilities, decisions, and follow-up items.
- Facilitate cross-functional discussions and working sessions.
- Support communication, training, and adoption activities.
- Monitor implementation and identify where additional adjustments may be required.
- Help ensure improvements become sustainable operating practices rather than temporary changes.
Process Documentation & Standardization
- Develop and maintain process maps, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and supporting documentation.
- Establish clear ownership, responsibilities, decision points, and handoffs within processes.
- Help create consistent process and documentation standards across the organization.
- Ensure critical operational knowledge is captured and accessible.
- Support process governance and continuous improvement practices.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Business, Operations Management, Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in process improvement, continuous improvement, operations, manufacturing, project coordination, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both frontline employees and organizational leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to understand complex workflows and translate problems into practical solutions.
Preferred (but not required):
- Manufacturing or industrial environment experience.
- Lean, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, or similar methodologies.
- Process mapping and workflow design.
- Root-cause analysis and structured problem solving.
- ERP or business systems exposure.
- Project coordination or project management.
- SOP and work instruction development.
- Change management or implementation experience.
What We Offer
- Competitive Pay: $70,000 - $90,000 annually, based on experience
- Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package, paid holidays and paid time off
- Growth Opportunities: Continuing education and growth into specialized roles are encouraged.
- Team Environment: Work in a collaborative, continuous improvement-focused production shop
- Stability: Full-time, permanent position with consistent hours
Schedule & Work Details
- Hours: Full-time, 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday
- Location: Penticton, BC - in office
- Environment: Industrial manufacturing environment, shop floor and office.
