Job description

The PUR Company is hiring a Procurement Specialist on a 12-month contract to keep our gum and mint supply chain running day to day. You will own purchasing execution — from supplier POs and packaging orders to freight, inventory and weekly reporting — working with suppliers in North America, Europe, Turkey and China. Packaging is a big part of the job, so you will need hands-on experience with folding cartons, corrugated, flexible film and retail displays.

You report to the Director of Procurement, who sets direction and approves orders, suppliers and final quantities. Your job is to do the work accurately, follow it through to the end, and flag problems early.

Key responsibilities

Purchasing and order management (core of the role)

  • Raise, revise and close purchase orders in NetSuite for finished goods, packaging and co-packer runs.
  • Reconcile weekly supplier ship plans against open POs (quantities, flavours, item codes, ship dates) and correct gaps.
  • Match invoices to POs and receipts, coordinate deposits and payments with Accounts Payable, and track credit notes.

Sourcing and suppliers

  • Run RFQs with three or more suppliers, collect quotes and samples, and build landed-cost comparisons.
  • Negotiate price, MOQ and payment terms, and recommend options for the Director's decision.
  • Onboard new suppliers and monitor quality, lead times and paperwork.

Packaging and displays

  • Own packaging specs for folding cartons, corrugated shippers, trays and flexible film: dimensions, materials, print limits, case pack and pallet configuration.
  • Run packaging and display projects from brief to first production: samples, fit and machine-run tests, white-sample reviews and written supplier feedback.
  • Make sure spec changes carry through to item set-up, including case dimensions, BOMs and GS1/UPC data.
  • Do the technical check on artwork and printer proofs (dieline, barcode/UPC, dimensions, print limits, Pantone targets) before release, and archive approved files.
  • Source trays, shipping cases and displays to meet retailer requirements.

Logistics and inventory

  • Quote and book ocean, air and truck freight; track shipments and keep ETAs current.
  • Check shipping documents before departure and work with customs brokers, the warehouse and 3PLs.
  • Update reorder models, flag low-stock SKUs and reconcile monthly stock counts with NetSuite.

Quality, compliance and reporting

  • Log quality issues and file supplier or freight claims with supporting evidence.
  • Support product compliance as needed: request certificates and supplier documents, and help coordinate labelling updates with external partners.
  • Publish the weekly inbound open-orders report and keep Sales, Warehouse, AP and Marketing informed.
  • Keep SOPs current and help automate repeatable work, including testing new planning and reporting tools as we roll them out.

Requirements

Must have

  • Experience with dielines, print proofing and GS1/UPC item set-up.
  • Hands-on packaging experience: folding carton, corrugated, flexible film or retail displays, including specs, samples and print production.
  • Hands-on experience raising and managing POs in an ERP (NetSuite preferred).
  • Strong Excel skills: cost comparisons, reorder models, reconciliations.
  • Experience working with overseas suppliers and freight forwarders.
  • Highly organized and detail-focused, with clear written communication.
  • Able to manage many open items at once and follow up until each is closed.

Nice to have

  • Experience with dielines, print proofing and GS1/UPC item set-up.
  • Working knowledge of incoterms, customs documents and import processes.
  • General awareness of food labelling and certificate requirements (Kosher, Halal, Non-GMO).
  • Degree or diploma in supply chain, business or a related field
