Job description

Are you a strategic project leader with a passion for solving complex problems and optimizing building operations? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments where collaboration, communication, and innovation drive impactful results?

At Earls Kitchen + Bar, we’re looking for a Project Manager to join our Facilities team and take ownership of high-impact maintenance, repair, and improvement projects across our restaurants.

In this role, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor and project lead for cross-functional stakeholders, working closely with store operators, interior and kitchen designers, and external partners to deliver seamless project execution. You will oversee the full project lifecycle—from planning and budgeting to execution and post-project review—while ensuring brand standards, timelines, and cost expectations are met.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and oversight of complex repairs, maintenance, and CapEx improvement projects across multiple restaurant locations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for operations partners, providing strategic guidance and technical expertise on building systems, preventative maintenance, and repair methodologies.
  • Travel to our restaurants across Canada and the US to lead and support facilities project work, audit stores for renovation planning & scoping, and provide post-open/post-renovation site support for Operations
  • Provide guidance and support to Facilities Specialists, particularly in areas of technical expertise and project execution.
  • Intake, prioritize, and scope support requests from operators, working collaboratively with operations leadership to align on timelines, funding, and business impact.
  • Troubleshoot commercial MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) and equipment issues; identify root causes and recommend effective solutions.
  • Interpret and advise on construction specifications and collaborate with in-house designers to create new design packages as needed.
  • Source, evaluate, and manage vendor relationships, ensuring alignment with company standards and acting as an intermediary to resolve any disputes.
  • Develop project scopes, timelines, and detailed cost estimates to support funding approvals for larger-scale initiatives.
  • Build and manage budgets for maintenance and CapEx projects, tracking costs and ensuring fiscal accountability across all initiatives.
  • Own end-to-end invoice and PO processes, ensuring accurate reconciliation, reporting, and cost allocation in collaboration with Accounts Payable.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, reports, and records for ongoing analysis, tracking, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in facilities management, construction project management, or a related field, with a strong background in HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing systems; experience in the restaurant, hospitality, or retail sector is highly valued.
  • Post-secondary education in Building/Architectural Technology, Construction Management, or a related field, or a combination of education and hands-on experience.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple projects simultaneously with competing deadlines, budgets, and stakeholder interests.
  • Ability to assess urgency and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced understanding of building systems and preventative maintenance best practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction methods, building codes, bylaws, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and kitchen equipment).
  • Experience using project management tools and systems including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Smartsheet; familiarity with AutoCAD and Facilities Management Software (FMS/CMMS) is an asset.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage vendors, and communicate with clarity across all levels of the organization.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and resourceful with excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Willingness and ability to travel across North America (30-40% travel time) for project oversight.
