An acute tertiary psychiatric center- Hillside Centre is a regional center that services the entire Interior Health Authority with two dedicated beds for Northern Health. The centre opened 20 yrs ago and services both adults and elderly patients with severe and persistent mental illness and/or severely dysfunctional behaviours that need special care beyond what is available in their local communities. Hillside Centre is a unique complex – one of a kind in BC. You will have the opportunity to work with a multi disciplinary team including social Workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, and clinical pharmacists.

Interest in Neuro Psychiatry is an asset.

There is an opportunity to provide on-call services to Royal Inland Hospital if the candidate is interested in doing calls. The successful candidate may choose a blended service that includes admitting privileges at Royal Inland Hospital with the opportunity of a collegial relationship with 10 other psychiatrists providing services at Royal Inland Hospital, and membership of the medical staff association of Royal Inland Hospital. The successful candidate will also become a member of the Royal Inland and Hillside Physician Association(RIHPA) with access to funding for projects through the Facility Engagement Initiative.

For those interested, Leadership Development Opportunities are available with Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Program. The NAVIG8 Emerging Physician Leaders Program is a comprehensive leadership development program designed specifically for physicians to address the practical leadership knowledge, behaviours and skills that high potential, emerging medical leaders require to step into leadership roles early in their careers.
