Job description

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Quality Manager to join our growing team.

External Job Description

We are seeking an experienced quality professional who is ready to step into a broader Quality Manager role. This visible plant leadership position protects product and process conformity, maintains independent Quality decision-making and ensures nonconforming product is contained, investigated and controlled.

You will coordinate day-to-day quality assurance and quality control activities, support the continued development of the Quality Management System and work closely with Production, Technical Services, Purchasing, Customer Service, Scheduling, Shipping, Maintenance and EHS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Improve the plant Quality Management System, procedures, records and controls
  • Exercise authorized product-hold authority and prevent suspect or nonconforming product from being used or shipped until release conditions are met
  • Lead investigations and corrective actions for defects, complaints, warranty issues, supplier defects and audit findings
  • Establish risk-based incoming, in-process and final inspection requirements, including measurement and calibration controls
  • Coordinate internal, customer, external and certification audits
  • Partner with Purchasing on supplier quality containment and corrective action
  • Provide independent Quality review for product, material, process, equipment and system changes
  • Monitor complaints, first-pass yield, defects, rework, scrap, corrective-action effectiveness and supplier quality
  • Direct, coach and develop assigned quality personnel

What You Bring:

  • Post-secondary education in quality, engineering technology, manufacturing, operations or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and practical manufacturing quality experience will be considered
  • Typically 3 to 5 years of progressive manufacturing quality experience, including coordinating quality activities, corrective actions or inspections
  • Experience directing, coaching or supporting quality inspectors or production employees is preferred. Formal management experience is an asset, not required
  • Working knowledge of quality systems, nonconforming product control, internal audits, customer or supplier quality and corrective action
  • Practical experience with 5 Why, cause-and-effect analysis, Pareto analysis, 8D or similar problem-solving methods
  • Experience with inspection methods, measurement equipment, calibration, document control and quality data
  • Clear communication, sound judgment and confidence making evidence-based decisions
  • An ASQ certification or equivalent quality training is an asset, not a requirement

What Success Looks Like:

  • Nonconforming product is identified, contained and controlled before use or shipment
  • Corrective actions are completed on time and demonstrate sustained effectiveness
  • Customer, supplier and internal quality issues decline through stronger process controls
  • Quality records, inspections, audits and calibration requirements remain complete and current
  • Quality decisions remain independent, fact-based and aligned with approved plant governance
