Working closely with our development, security, and infrastructure teams, you’ll focus on automation, system reliability, monitoring, and cloud cost management. You’ll bring hands-on technical expertise, guide architecture decisions, and lead infrastructure projects from planning through production.

As a senior member of the team, you’ll also mentor other engineers, share your knowledge, and help establish consistent technical practices.

About Us:

ESG, along with its subsidiary Pandell, is a global leader in energy software, providing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions that support companies across utilities, renewables, retail energy, and oil and gas.

Across North America and the UK, our combined platforms help teams manage key parts of their business, including billing, asset management, regulatory requirements, and geospatial data. These tools bring together the information and workflows teams rely on every day, making it easier to run operations and stay organized.

Through cloud-based technology and data-driven insights, we help energy companies navigate complex markets and continue progressing toward Net-Zero goals.

Life at ESG

We’re a fast-moving, high-performing software company filled with talented, purpose-driven people. Our culture is challenging, rewarding, and genuinely supportive. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are part of who we are, and we want you to show up as your authentic self. In return, we’ll support you with the trust, tools, and flexibility you need to do your best work.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable cloud and hybrid infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code.
  • Work with development teams to build and improve automated CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, deployment, monitoring, and recovery.
  • Develop and maintain observability tools, with a focus on Datadog for metrics, logs, traces, and alerting.
  • Establish service level objectives and practical alerting standards to improve reliability and help teams resolve issues quickly.
  • Monitor cloud spending, identify savings opportunities, and introduce cost controls while maintaining performance and reliability.
  • Maintain and improve VMware environments, including availability, capacity, and performance.
  • Troubleshoot complex production incidents, identify root causes, and implement lasting improvements.
  • Partner with security teams to strengthen infrastructure security and support compliance requirements.
  • Lead disaster recovery planning and testing, along with ongoing capacity planning and performance tuning.
  • Mentor other engineers and contribute to technical standards, architecture diagrams, and operational documentation.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering.
  • At least five years of experience designing, operating, and improving enterprise environments that include Windows, Linux, and SQL-based systems.
  • Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform. AWS is preferred; Azure or Google Cloud experience is also relevant.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Strong knowledge of VMware technologies, including vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter, along with experience running Docker and Kubernetes in production.
  • Experience with enterprise storage, networking, and security infrastructure.
  • Scripting and automation skills using Python, PowerShell, Bash, Go, or a combination of these.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI, along with Git version control.
  • Experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions, including Datadog.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical decisions, manage competing priorities, and guide projects involving several teams.
  • A degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience leading large-scale migrations to AWS.
  • Strong SQL Server administration skills and experience supporting IIS.
  • Experience with cloud cost management and FinOps practices, including rightsizing, Savings Plans or Reserved Instances, tagging, and budgets.
