At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.

We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go.

Join EY and help to build a better working world.

The opportunity

Our Forensics practice advises corporations and their legal counsel on forensic investigations as well as on economic damages arising from business disputes. Since we work with such a diverse portfolio of clients across industries, you can expect to take on a wide range of fraud prevention and detection projects, making this a great place to hone your skills and business knowledge. Our dynamic and talented group is currently seeking the right candidate for a career opportunity in our Forensic and Integrity Services practice as a Manager or Senior Manager.

Your key responsibilities

As a Senior Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing and leading the team through investigations and disputes, anti-fraud, and other forensic assignments. You’ll work alongside the Central Canada Forensics leader to creatively assess and resolve our clients’ needs from the front lines. Additionally, you will be responsible for coaching and training the team, as well as contributing to business development initiatives.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Carry out or coordinate forensic accounting engagements, such as fraud investigation and damage quantification engagements, to proactively help clients resolve these issues that are both sensitive and significant for conducting their business.
  • Develop trusted business advisor relationships with clients.
  • Work with clients, internal and external auditors, lawyers, regulators and police authorities, as the case may be, in sensitive, potentially high profile and sometimes adversarial situations.
  • Analyze information that may be highly confidential in nature.
  • Recommend measures to reduce the risks of recurrences of fraud, bribery or corruption, collusion or breaches of ethics.
  • Monitor risk on engagements under your responsibility.
  • Continuously build EY’s Forensics presence in the marketplace, participate in the regular update and refinement of the forensic practice business plan with a view to building visibility either through repeat mandates with existing clients, new mandates with prospective clients or referrals from other EY service lines or external professional services firms.
  • Deliver quality and value-added service on engagements, manage the delivery of services to clients (oversee client files from the planning to the closing stage) and ensure consistent high quality services to clients.
  • Mentor professionals with proven abilities, motivate and mentor high-performing professionals to achieve full individual and team potential, provide strong coaching and training to achieve operational excellence.
  • Willingness and ability to travel on occasion.

What we look for

We’re interested in passionate people that have the intellectual curiosity to actively pursue new knowledge in the rapidly changing world of fraud investigations. Naturally you’ll need a solid technical foundation, as well as the ability to translate complex information into meaningful, actionable insights. But we’re not just looking for strong technical skills – we’re interested in people that have the ability to nurture relationships, both internal and external, and are committed to intimately understanding our client’s needs. If you’re looking to become part of a community of advisors where you’ll make a measurable difference across some of the most prestigious businesses around, this role is for you. You will have:

  • The ability to lead work on forensic engagements and supervise professionals assigned to the teams.
Relevant experience in investigations of suspected or alleged fraud and other irregularities and economic damage quantification in connection with disputes.
  • Proven marketing and business development skills in coordinating and preparing proposals.
  • Demonstrated ability managing multiple engagements and client relationships as well as providing thought leadership to the team.
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in forensic accounting.
  • A completed CPA or CA designation.
  • Professional certification or designation in forensic accounting or business valuation.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Proven ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken English. Competencies in other languages would be an asset.
  • Discretion and confidentiality.
  • Excellent judgment.
  • The ability to deliver training.
  • The ability to conduct initial consultation meetings with clients.
  • A strong ability to analyze and summarize, particularly when lines are blurred.
  • The ability to manage priorities.
