Job description

Who are we?

Equinix is the world’s digital infrastructure company®, shortening the path to connectivity to enable the innovations that enrich our work, life and planet.

A place where bold ideas are welcomed, human connection is valued, and everyone has the opportunity to shape their future.A career at Equinix means being at the center of shaping what comes next and amplifying customer value through innovation and impact. You’ll work across teams, influence key decisions, and help shape the path forward. You’ll find belonging, purpose, and a team that welcomes you—because when you feel valued, you’re empowered to do your best work.

Job Summary

This role anchors the science behind Workforce Insights — equipping decision-makers with insights produced through rigorous behavioural science, psychometrics, and advanced analytics. The People Scientist Leader leads how Equinix listens to and learns from its workforce, spanning employee listening (across all modalities — surveys, passive signals, in-the-flow feedback) and advanced analytics (driver analysis, predictive modelling, applied research). Serving as the technical authority for the Workforce Insights function, this role sets methodological standards across the team and partners with People Solutions, Global Comms, Legal/Privacy and DIO to ensure insight is rigorous, evidence-based, and drives enterprise action.

Responsibilities
Strategy & Methodology

  • Define and own Equinix's enterprise listening and advanced analytics strategy — what we listen for, why, and how — and the methodological standards that underpin it, grounded in scientific research methods and aligned to enterprise priorities
  • Set enterprise standards for measurement, research design, sampling, ethics, and data quality that all insight work at Equinix adheres to
  • Architect Equinix's future-state listening and analytics technology ecosystem — leading platform selection and shaping how systems integrate to enable the methodology
  • Partner with teams running listening surfaces across Equinix (ERGs, ethics, ER, comms, PEX, ITS, etc.) to integrate their signals into a consolidated view

Listening & Research Design

  • Own the design of scalable listening mechanisms across all modalities — census, pulse, lifecycle, always-on signals, and qualitative deep-dives — and identify the use cases that matter most to enterprise strategy
  • Define methodology for listening in the flow of work (micro-surveys, sentiment nudges, passive signals); guide delivery partners on what to deploy and how to ensure validity
  • Ground all listening and research design in psychometric and applied-research best practice — instrument design, sampling, construct validity, and freedom from bias

Advanced Analytics & Modelling

  • Lead advanced analytics across the workforce — driver analysis, predictive modelling, causal inference, longitudinal methods, and applied research on HRIS, performance, behavioural, and listening data
  • Conduct linkage research — connecting what employees say, do, and say they do across listening, HR, performance, and business data — to identify the drivers of customer experience, performance, retention, and productivity
  • Lead AI/NLP and machine-learning applications across workforce data — embedding Responsible AI, data ethics, and privacy-by-design in every initiative

Insight Activation & Influence

  • Translate complex research and analytics into compelling narratives that resonate with executive and functional audiences — making the case through evidence, not advocacy
  • Represent employee listening and workforce analytics directly at enterprise leadership forums — presenting findings, methodology decisions, and the strategic narrative on what insights are revealing
  • Drive a closed-loop discipline — translating insights into actions that are tracked, measured, and reported back to employees, and flagging where listening data is not driving the decisions it should
  • Bring independent points of view on what Equinix should be paying attention to — surfacing emerging issues and shaping what we listen for and analyse next.

Partnership & Capability Uplift

  • Serve as technical authority for the Workforce Insights function — setting a high bar for scientific rigor and uplifting the craft of analysts and partners across the team without managing them directly
  • Partner across Workforce Insights (Business Insight Partners and Insight Solutions) and with People Solutions, PEX, Global Comms, Legal/Privacy and People Technology — bringing rigor and methodological coherence across a dispersed listening landscape
  • Serve as trusted advisor to enterprise partners — helping them refine strategies, determine actions, and prioritise where to focus.

Team Management

  • Manage a diverse and inclusive team
  • Act as a team lead and coach to broader members of the Workforce Analytics team

Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience

  • Significant experience in employee listening, people analytics, organisational research or applied behavioural science, with depth in research-led roles
  • Demonstrated experience designing and evolving enterprise-scale listening programs across multiple modalities (active, passive, in-the-flow)
  • Track record of producing research and insights that have influenced enterprise decisions on employee experience, culture or workforce strategy
  • Hands-on expertise with quantitative, qualitative, and AI-led research methods — including LLMs and emerging agentic tools for synthesising unstructured data at scale, alongside traditional survey design, statistical and thematic analysis
  • Experience in large, matrixed, multinational organisations
  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in industrial-organizational psychology, organisational behaviour, behavioural science or related research discipline; Ph.D. preferred
  • Active engagement with the I-O / people-analytics community is a plus

Skills & Attributes

  • Credible with senior leaders, influencing executives through evidence, clarity and the strength of the research
  • Balances scientific rigor with pragmatism and knows when to invest in deep research and when timely, directional insight is enough
  • Decisive under ambiguity and high-standards. Makes clear methodological calls and upholds research quality across the enterprise
  • Exceptional storyteller translating complex research into clear, compelling narratives, with skill in data visualisation
  • Collaborative working across the Workforce Insights team, People Solutions, Comms and other enterprise partners
