Location: Vancouver, BC preferred | Remote within Canada
Employment: Full-time, permanent
Salary: CAD $110,000–$130,000 annually
Company: Aequilibrium Software Inc.
Practice: Innovation | XR & AI
Program: VR4Health

About Aequilibrium

At Aequilibrium, our mission is to enrich lives by crafting remarkable experiences. We combine strategy, design, technology, and innovation to help organizations solve complex challenges and create meaningful impact. Our immersive technology practice develops virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and AI-powered experiences for enterprise learning, simulation, and digital transformation.

We're leading VR4Health, a three-year, funded, international R&D initiative exploring how AI-powered immersive experiences can transform healthcare education and professional training. We're looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager / Scrum Master to lead the day-to-day delivery of our VR4Health program and help us scale our immersive training capabilities.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on delivery leadership role at the intersection of immersive technology, AI, professional services, and healthcare education.

You'll work with a multidisciplinary team comprising a Product Owner, Technical Lead, Unity Developer, Full-Stack Developer, and Designer, alongside research partners, clinical subject-matter experts, and international collaborators. You'll ensure the team delivers high-quality, measurable outcomes through effective Agile execution, proactive risk management, and strong stakeholder coordination.

The ideal candidate has managed enterprise XR or real-time 3D projects, preferably within a professional services or consulting environment, and understands the complexities of delivering immersive training solutions. Experience with organizations such as Unity Professional Services, Capgemini Engineering, or comparable XR consulting and development teams would be particularly relevant.

Key Responsibilities

1. Agile Delivery & Scrum Leadership

  • Lead Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Partner with the Product Owner to translate product priorities and research objectives into actionable sprint plans and delivery milestones.

  • Maintain delivery plans, sprint commitments, dependencies, and release schedules.

  • Identify and resolve impediments while promoting team autonomy and accountability.

  • Track delivery metrics, including sprint predictability, throughput, quality, and milestone completion.

  • Adapt Agile practices to the realities of R&D, experimentation, and evolving technical requirements.

2. XR & Immersive Training Delivery

  • Coordinate the development and delivery of immersive training experiences using Unity and related technologies.

  • Manage workflows across Unity development, backend services, AI integrations, UX/UI design, testing, and deployment.

  • Coordinate scenario development, prototyping, user testing, and iterative improvements.

  • Understand XR-specific delivery challenges, including device compatibility, performance optimization, interaction design, and user experience.

  • Help establish repeatable processes for developing, testing, and deploying immersive training scenarios.

  • Ensure appropriate quality assurance, accessibility, usability, and performance standards.

3. VR4Health Program Coordination

  • Manage project plans, deliverables, milestones, risks, and dependencies across the VR4Health workstreams.

  • Coordinate with international consortium partners, academic institutions, healthcare professionals, and research collaborators.

  • Support the preparation of project reports, demonstrations, milestone reviews, and documentation required by research and funding partners.

  • Maintain traceability between research objectives, technical deliverables, and measurable outcomes.

  • Coordinate validation activities, including usability studies, pilot deployments, and learning effectiveness assessments.

  • Support planning and delivery of AI-powered training capabilities, including adaptive virtual patients, conversational AI, and personalized feedback.

4. Professional Services & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day delivery contact for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Manage scope, schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and delivery expectations.

  • Communicate project progress, risks, decisions, and dependencies clearly to leadership and partners.

  • Facilitate workshops, demonstrations, stakeholder reviews, and executive presentations.

  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery efficiency, reusability, and scalability.

  • Support proposals, estimates, statements of work, and planning for future XR engagements.

  • Balance client and partner expectations with team capacity, technical feasibility, and commercial objectives.

5. Continuous Improvement & Delivery Operations

  • Establish lightweight, scalable project management practices appropriate for a multidisciplinary innovation team.

  • Improve collaboration across product, engineering, design, QA, and research.

  • Maintain clear documentation, decision logs, and delivery reporting.

  • Support release readiness, acceptance criteria, defect management, and lessons learned.

  • Help build delivery capabilities that can support future immersive training clients and programs beyond VR4Health.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in software project management, technical production, or program delivery, including substantial hands-on Agile/Scrum leadership.

  • 3+ years delivering XR, VR, AR, real-time 3D, simulation, or similarly complex interactive applications.

  • Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary teams involving software engineers, designers, technical artists, and product stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, Agile delivery, backlog management, estimation, and release planning.

  • Experience delivering technology projects in a professional services, consulting, agency, or client-facing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage project scope, budgets, timelines, risks, and stakeholder expectations.

  • Familiarity with Unity development workflows and the technical considerations of immersive applications.

  • Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, or equivalent project management and collaboration tools.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with distributed teams and external partners.

  • Eligible to work full-time in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience developing or delivering VR training, enterprise simulation, immersive learning, or digital learning solutions.

  • Previous experience with Unity Professional Services, Capgemini Engineering, or another enterprise XR consulting organization.

  • Experience working with healthcare education, clinical simulation, medical training, or regulated industries.

  • Familiarity with instructional design, learning objectives, competency assessment, and measuring training effectiveness.

  • Experience coordinating AI/ML capabilities, conversational AI, virtual characters, or intelligent simulation systems.

  • Experience managing government-funded R&D initiatives, academic collaborations, or international research consortia.

  • Familiarity with Meta Quest, OpenXR, Unity XR Interaction Toolkit, or similar immersive technology ecosystems.

  • Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM), PMP, or equivalent credentials.

  • Experience supporting pre-sales activities, proposals, estimates, and client demonstrations.
