Job Description

About the Role

Join Thermo Fisher Scientific's Human Resources Technology Services (HRTS) team as a Senior Systems Analyst supporting the delivery of complex HR technology initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), Phase X implementations, Workday enhancements, integrations, and other strategic projects.

This role combines strong HR technology and data expertise with hands-on project coordination, business analysis, and testing leadership. The successful candidate will work closely with HR, Payroll, IT, technical teams, and external partners to translate business requirements into actionable plans, coordinate activities across multiple workstreams, and drive successful implementation.

Job Summary

The Senior Systems Analyst will support and coordinate complex Workday and HR technology initiatives from requirements gathering through testing, deployment, and stabilization.

This position requires a strong understanding of Workday, HR and Payroll processes, employee data, and downstream system dependencies, along with exceptional analytical and organizational skills. The individual will be responsible for bringing structure to complex bodies of work, tracking progress, anticipating risks and dependencies, facilitating issue resolution, and ensuring stakeholders have clear visibility into activities and next steps.

The role will also play an important part in developing and coordinating end-to-end testing strategies, particularly for initiatives involving multiple Workday functional domains, integrations, data conversion, and downstream applications.

Responsibilities

Business Analysis & HR Technology

  • Partner with HR, Payroll, IT, business stakeholders, and technical teams to gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements for Workday and related HR technology initiatives.
  • Analyze HR business processes, Workday functionality, and employee data to identify gaps, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications and coordinate with Workday domain architects, integration developers, and other technical resources to support solution design and implementation.
  • Understand Workday data structures, business processes, integrations, and downstream system dependencies sufficiently to identify potential impacts and facilitate cross-functional discussions.
  • Support data conversion activities, including data mapping, cleansing, validation, reconciliation, mass data loads, and downstream integration readiness.
  • Analyze large data sets using Excel and other analytical tools to identify discrepancies, validate results, troubleshoot issues, and support business decisions.

Project & Delivery Coordination

  • Coordinate defined bodies of work across M&A integrations, Phase X initiatives, Workday enhancements, integrations, Time & Absence, and other HR technology projects.
  • Develop and maintain detailed activity trackers, schedules, milestones, action items, and dependencies in alignment with broader project plans and timelines.
  • Proactively follow up with functional and technical teams to track commitments, identify blockers, resolve issues, and maintain delivery momentum.
  • Coordinate requirements gathering, solution discussions, implementation sequencing, testing readiness, and deployment activities across multiple workstreams.
  • Identify risks, issues, and downstream impacts; communicate status and recommended actions to project leads and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate working sessions and status meetings to ensure clear ownership, timely decisions, and accountability for deliverables.
  • Partner with project managers, solution architects, and domain leads to support implementation planning, change assessments, and production readiness.

Testing & Implementation Readiness

  • Coordinate end-to-end testing activities across Workday functional domains, integrations, downstream systems, and business stakeholders, including System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and regression testing.
  • Support development of testing strategies, scenarios, timelines, and execution plans to ensure appropriate coverage of business processes, employee populations, data flows, and downstream impacts.
  • Ensure testing prerequisites are identified and addressed, including access, test data, environments, scenarios, expected results, and resource availability.
  • Track testing progress, defects, blockers, risks, and outstanding decisions, driving follow-up and resolution across functional and technical teams.
  • Analyze defects and data discrepancies to identify potential impacts across related scenarios, employee populations, integrations, and downstream processes.
  • Facilitate testing status and defect triage meetings, ensuring clear ownership, priorities, and timely resolution.
  • Maintain visibility into overall testing health, completion status, unresolved risks, and readiness for deployment.
  • Support cutover preparation, production validation, and post-implementation stabilization activities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Human Resources, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting enterprise Human Capital Management (HCM) systems, HR technology implementations, business analysis, or related initiatives.
  • Strong experience with Workday HCM, including an understanding of core HR processes, reporting, employee data, business processes, and cross-functional system dependencies.
  • Strong knowledge of HR and Payroll business processes and how employee data flows between Workday and downstream applications.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting complex Workday implementations, M&A integrations, enterprise enhancements, or other large-scale HR technology initiatives.

  • Experience supporting requirements gathering, functional analysis, testing, data conversion, and implementation activities.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to independently manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with business stakeholders, technical teams, and external partners.
  • Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and ability to proactively identify issues, drive follow-up, and operate effectively in a fast-paced global environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating or leading complex Workday SIT, UAT, regression testing, or end-to-end testing activities.
  • Experience with testing management, defect tracking, test scenario development, and cross-system impact analysis.
  • Experience supporting M&A integrations, Phase X implementations, or divestitures.
  • Knowledge of Workday integrations, including EIBs, PECI, WECI, PICOF, and related downstream HR/Payroll systems.
  • Experience with ADP GlobalView or other enterprise payroll platforms.
  • Experience supporting Workday Reporting, Time Tracking, Absence Management, Security, or other HCM functional domains.
  • Proficiency with Smartsheet or similar project and testing coordination tools.

Success in this Role

The ideal candidate is a highly analytical, organized, and proactive HR technology professional who combines strong Workday and HR process knowledge with the ability to coordinate complex initiatives across multiple teams.
