Location: Schomberg, Ontario

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Opportunity

OpTalent is partnering with a growing, internationally recognized education and professional products business to recruit an experienced International Shipping & Inventory Manager.

This organization operates across multiple international markets, supplying professional products and educational materials to customers and distribution partners worldwide.

This is a hands-on, multifaceted role responsible for overseeing international shipping operations, customs compliance, third-party logistics (3PL) coordination and inventory management across several locations.

A key focus will be managing the movement and replenishment of inventory from Canada to distribution partners in the United States, Australia, Europe and the United Kingdom. The successful candidate will bring practical expertise in international trade, customs documentation, tariff classification, duties and import requirements.

In addition, this individual will oversee Canadian inventory and direct-to-customer fulfillment, including finished goods, raw materials and components used in local product assembly.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented and comfortable taking ownership of day-to-day logistics and inventory operations in an international e-commerce environment.

Key Responsibilities

International Shipping & Trade Compliance

  • Coordinate international inventory replenishment shipments from Canada to 3PL distribution centres across the United States, Australia, Europe and the United Kingdom.

  • Prepare, review and maintain accurate international shipping and customs documentation for both bulk inventory transfers and direct-to-customer shipments.

  • Determine appropriate HS tariff classifications, customs values, country-of-origin declarations and product descriptions.

  • Ensure shipments meet applicable import regulations, customs requirements, duties and tax obligations in destination markets.

  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, international couriers and overseas logistics partners.

  • Monitor shipments from dispatch through final delivery, proactively resolving customs delays, documentation discrepancies, shipment exceptions and returns.

  • Identify opportunities to improve international shipping processes, cost efficiency and delivery reliability.

3PL & International Inventory Management

  • Monitor inventory levels across international 3PL locations and proactively coordinate replenishment requirements.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and reconcile stock levels across external fulfillment partners.

  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, shortages and shipment variances.

  • Coordinate stock transfers and ensure inventory availability aligns with customer demand and operational requirements.

  • Maintain regular communication with international fulfillment partners to ensure efficient inventory movement and order fulfillment.

Canadian Inventory & Order Fulfillment

  • Manage Canadian inventory, including finished products, raw materials and components used in local manufacturing and assembly.

  • Process customer orders through Shopify for fulfillment from the Canadian location.

  • Oversee hands-on order fulfillment, including picking, packing, labeling and coordinating outbound shipments.

  • Receive incoming inventory and verify quantities against purchase orders and shipping documentation.

  • Track inventory movements between finished goods, raw materials, assembly requirements and international replenishment shipments.

  • Identify potential stock shortages and coordinate purchasing or replenishment needs.

  • Maintain accurate inventory, shipping and fulfillment documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in international shipping, logistics, import/export coordination or international supply chain operations.

  • Strong practical knowledge of international customs procedures, import regulations and shipping documentation.

  • Working knowledge of HS tariff classification, customs valuation, country-of-origin requirements, duties and international taxes.

  • Experience coordinating international freight shipments and cross-border inventory transfers.

  • Previous experience managing relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers or external fulfillment centres.

  • Demonstrated experience managing inventory across multiple locations.

  • Experience with e-commerce order management and fulfillment platforms, ideally Shopify.

  • Familiarity with major shipping carriers and logistics providers, including UPS, FedEx, DHL and Canada Post.

  • Experience maintaining inventory records for finished goods, raw materials and product components.

  • Strong proficiency with inventory management systems, spreadsheets and shipping platforms.

  • Excellent organizational skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and resolve operational issues proactively.

Key Attributes

  • Ownership: Takes responsibility for day-to-day shipping, customs and inventory operations from start to finish.
