Description
Every second, billions of signals flow in from browsers and edge services around the world. Trails turns that firehose into live, trustworthy data at the point where traffic first meets Amazon. When something goes wrong, or someone is trying to abuse the system, the pipelines you build are how teams see it first.
Trails is a unified edge observability platform. We bring client-side and edge telemetry into one governed data lake, with fine-grained access control built in. Streaming applications deliver live data to downstream detection, mitigation, and traffic insight systems, where latency is measured in seconds, not hours. You will own the data those real-time decisions depend on, and your work will show up quickly in how teams resolve real incidents. Our tools include automated traffic intelligence reports, guided investigation workflows, and dashboards that builders across the company rely on. You will make queries over huge datasets dramatically faster and build the self-serve interface that lets teams investigate traffic patterns on their own. The platform is young, so you will have real say in architecture and direction while solving hard problems in ingestion, data quality, and low-latency delivery.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and ship streaming pipelines and telemetry features for real-time ingestion and observability at scale.
- Optimize and speed up data queries over large datasets through better data layout, partitioning, and query design.
- Build a self-serve interface that lets teams investigate traffic patterns without needing engineering help.
- Build data solutions that make edge systems easier to see, understand, and operate.
- Automate away toil and expand self-serve data query capabilities.
- Power insight reports that help teams triage availability issues and abuse incidents fast.
- Write clean, maintainable code that keeps the platform stable.
- Partner with other teams to bring in new telemetry sources and delight customers.
- Join the on-call rotation to keep the platform available 24x7.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
