About the Role:

As a Senior Engineer - Automation on our Falcon Complete Managed Detection & Response (MDR) team, you will lead the design and implementation of complex security automation workflows and services that scale our operations through advanced automation and AI. Our mission is to build and enhance innovative and agentic systems that detect, analyze, investigate, and remediate threats at scale, and you will empower our analysts with state of the art agentic tools. You will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in automation technologies, mentor junior team members, and drive innovation in AI-powered security operations. You'll partner closely with Falcon Complete analysts and Engineering stakeholders, and be accountable for the delivery of automation systems that measurably speeds up or automates threat triage, investigation, and response.

What You'll Do:

As a senior team member you will share responsibility for everything we build and will be expected to:

  • Own the end-to-end design and implementation of new features and product enhancements that drive our mission.
  • Architect both deterministic and agentic automation pipelines that combine service development, scripting, orchestration, and enrichment across many security tools.
  • Conduct complex analysis requiring in-depth evaluation of variable factors to architect end-to-end automation solutions that solve real-world security problems at enterprise scale.
  • Work directly with Falcon Complete analysts, stakeholders and partners to gather feedback and build these products and systems.
  • Design and implement reliable and performant solutions to enable continued scalability as we grow.
  • Build with resiliency and quality, constantly improve the effectiveness of service monitoring and proactively address issues in our services.
  • Participate in an OnCall rotation in order to ensure high quality operations 24/7 of critical systems.
  • Be a technical leader and mentor for the team. Mentor other engineers, review code and designs, conduct interviews, evaluate new technologies, and drive technical standards and best practices.
  • Write automation to reduce operational load and increase velocity within the team.

About Us:

We are a growing team distributed across the globe. We come from both cybersecurity and engineering backgrounds, and this role blends these skill sets to produce exceptional outcomes for our customers. Slack is our primary communication method and much of our work is done in an asynchronous manner. Everyone on the team is always game to catch up in real-time when needed.

We work together under the following set of values:

  • We move fast. We take action, experiment, and build, even in uncertainty.
  • We value quick and proactive support to internal and external customers.
  • We value the use of automation to maximize the capabilities and capacity of developers.
  • We value the use of software to improve the speed at which analysts can work.
  • We value products that are robust, efficient, scalable and maintainable.
  • We look for all ways to provide our customers with a superior experience, even if those solutions are not software.
  • We value letting the best idea prevail.

Our ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a team delivering our core products, contributing technically, and working with relevant stakeholders. Our team values a culture of growth, collaboration, transparency and feedback; we expect you to be as excited about these things as we are.

What You’ll Need:

  • 6-10 years of relevant experience in automation engineering, scripting, or cybersecurity, with demonstrated progression in technical complexity and leadership responsibilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field. Equivalent professional experience and industry certifications will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Professional experience with at least one of the following programming languages, Golang, Python, JavaScript, C++, or Java, and a willingness to use Golang and JavaScript.
  • Experience with and a foundational understanding of LLMs and agentic development systems.
  • Practical experience building enterprise quality web services or data pipelines at scale.
  • Practical experience with version control technologies like Git and CI/CD pipelines for deployment.
  • Operational knowledge of common cloud technologies, including databases such as Postgres, messaging systems such as Kafka, experience with Docker, and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to mentor junior team members, with excellent written and verbal communication, project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • The ability to thrive in a highly asynchronous and remote environment.
  • To be someone who enjoys working with a team with many perspectives and backgrounds.
  • Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes.

Bonus Points:

  • Practical experience building user interfaces.
  • Practical experience building services within a microservices architecture.
  • Experience doing high-level system design and architecture on distributed and scalable systems.
  • Cybersecurity experience using SOAR platforms, SIEM tools, or the CrowdStrike Falcon platform, or experience building products in the security domain.
  • Unix system fundamentals.
  • PowerShell experience.
  • Data science, agentic training, or other experience developing non-deterministic AI systems.
  • Experience with prompt or context engineering and optimizing AI-powered workflows.
  • Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, GCP or OCI.
  • Experience with cloud observability tools.
  • You proactively seek to improve team productivity with automation.
