Job description

Whether you’re an experienced professional or just getting started, your contributions matter at Fortra. If you’re passionate about tackling meaningful challenges alongside talented team members committed to helping each other succeed, all while having lots of fun, we want to hear from you. We offer competitive benefits and salaries, personal and professional development opportunities, flexibility, and much more!

We are seeking a senior technical marketer who can combine product marketing strategy with strong content judgment and a genuine interest in becoming a subject matter expert. You will help market a portfolio of offensive-security products and training to technically sophisticated red teamers, penetration testers, security leaders, and other practitioners. Success in this role requires more than translating standard cybersecurity messaging: you will learn how the products work, understand the problems they solve, and turn that knowledge into technically accurate, distinctive, and engaging positioning and content. You will own marketing priorities for assigned brands, with particular focus on the products that need greater attention, while supporting launches, sales enablement, competitive intelligence, and go-to-market planning across the portfolio.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own positioning and messaging that clearly communicates differentiated product value and resonates with both technical practitioners and the leaders who fund their work.
  • Develop considerable working knowledge of assigned products and become a credible marketing subject matter expert; learn from product experts, trainers, engineers, researchers, and customers.
  • Create and edit technically accurate, engaging content across blogs, product pages, campaigns, social media, training promotions, sales materials, and other customer-facing channels.
  • Build practical marketing plans for assigned brands, prioritizing the products and audiences that need greater attention and balancing near-term execution with longer-term growth.
  • Support sales with useful messaging, presentations, competitive materials, and other enablement that helps explain product capabilities without overstating them.
  • Monitor industry trends, practitioner needs, competitive activity, and changes in the offensive-security market; turn relevant insights into recommendations and content ideas.
  • Partner with Marketing, Sales, Product Management, and highly technical subject matter experts to shape go-to-market strategy, validate claims, and improve the quality of messaging and communications.

KEY COMPENTENCIES

  • Enjoys learning how complex technical products work and is motivated to earn credibility with expert audiences.
  • Understands that technical audience responds to practical, specific, technically grounded communication—not generic cybersecurity language.
  • Editorial judgment and precision

Translates complicated technical information into clear, useful, and engaging marketing and sales content without losing important nuance

  • Asks good questions, validates claims, and challenges vague, inflated, or unsupported language.
  • Strategic ownership

Prioritizes work across multiple brands, connects content and messaging to business goals, and turns strategy into practical execution.

  • Accountability
  • Takes ownership of goals and outcomes, delivers high-quality work on time, and communicates clearly when priorities or assumptions change.

Collaboration

  • Works effectively with technical and nontechnical partners, seeks feedback, and builds productive relationships across Marketing, Sales, Product, and subject matter experts.
  • Communicates with professionalism while preserving the directness, specificity, and personality appropriate for the audiences and brands being marketed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of experience in product marketing, technical content, technical product management, technical sales, sales engineering, security research, or a related role in a B2B technology environment.
  • Experience in cybersecurity, developer tools, infrastructure, or another technically complex B2B market preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability and motivation to learn complex products and develop credible subject matter expertise.Experience in cybersecurity, developer tools, infrastructure, or another technically complex B2B market preferred.
  • Proven ability to translate technical material into accurate, engaging content for technical practitioners and business stakeholders.
  • Portfolio demonstrating excellent writing, editing, positioning, content strategy, or related work; strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable interviewing subject matter experts, validating technical claims, and improving copy through substantive editing.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize work across multiple brands and projects.
  • Collaborative, resourceful, and comfortable working cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, Product, and technical teams.
  • Self-directed but also a team player. Able to move work forward in a dynamic environment while maintaining accuracy and editorial quality.
  • Familiarity with red teaming, penetration testing, adversary emulation, cybersecurity training, or related technical security concepts a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; comfortable using AI-assisted content tools while applying strong fact-checking, security, and editorial judgment.
