Role Accountabilities

As a Transportation Designer, you will:

  • Participate in multidisciplinary project teams and design coordination meetings, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with review of existing conditions, technical standards, design criteria, client requirements, field investigations, site visits, inspections, and data collection activities.
  • Support construction-phase services, design reviews, resolution of technical issues, and development of sustainable and resilient design solutions.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong academic foundation and a demonstrated interest in transportation infrastructure and rail systems, along with an understanding of engineering principles and transportation design practices. Success in this role will require strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, and analytical problem-solving capabilities. Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, OpenRail, Revit, Bentley applications, GIS, or similar design software is considered an asset. Eligibility to register as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is also considered an asset.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in transportation, infrastructure, rail, or transit projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Co-op, internship, or research experience related to transportation, transit, rail, municipal infrastructure, or construction projects.
  • Familiarity with Ontario transportation agencies such as Metrolinx, TTC, municipalities, and regional transit authorities.
  • Exposure to BIM, digital engineering, asset management, data analytics tools, sustainable transportation, decarbonization, or future mobility solutions.
