With a growing portfolio of projects and an increasing focus on technology-driven project delivery, they are looking to hire an experienced VDC Manager to lead their Virtual Design and Construction function.
This is a key leadership position for someone who combines strong mechanical/plumbing construction knowledge with hands-on VDC expertise. You’ll lead a team, oversee coordination and drawing standards, and work closely with project teams to ensure designs can be effectively translated from the model into the field and prefabrication environment.
Compensation & Benefits:
- $100,000 – $130,000 base salary (depending on experience)
- Comprehensive benefits package
- Pension plan
- Balanced working hours
- Company-provided laptop
- Long-term career development with an established mechanical contractor
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead and support a team of VDC/drafting professionals, providing technical direction, mentorship, and performance management.
- Manage the development and coordination of mechanical and plumbing models and drawings from pre-construction through project delivery.
- Oversee VDC coordination activities and ensure drawings are accurate, constructible, and aligned with project requirements.
- Develop and maintain drafting standards, templates, workflows, and quality-control procedures.
- Review drawings and models for accuracy, completeness, constructibility, and compliance.
- Design and coordinate plumbing and mechanical systems in accordance with applicable Ontario codes, project documents, and internal standards.
- Work closely with project managers, field teams, general contractors, consultants, architects, and other project stakeholders.
- Support the development of drawings and layouts for prefabrication and field installation.
- Prepare and oversee IFC and as-built drawings.
- Support sleeving layouts and help resolve technical and coordination issues encountered in the field.
- Attend project and site coordination meetings as required.
- Identify problems, risks, and design issues early and work proactively with project teams to resolve them.
- Look for opportunities to improve VDC workflows, productivity, standardization, and overall project delivery.
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years of VDC/BIM experience, ideally within mechanical construction.
- Strong working knowledge of plumbing requirements and applicable codes in Ontario.
- Previous experience working with plumbing and/or mechanical building systems.
- Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, or managing a VDC/BIM/drafting team.
- Strong proficiency with Autodesk Revit is essential.
- Experience with VDC coordination and 2D/3D modelling.
- Working knowledge of platforms such as AutoCAD, BIM 360 and CADmep would be beneficial.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, detailing, constructibility, and coordination.
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, BIM, Architecture, Building Technology, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Experience with Dynamo or programming languages such as Python or C# would be considered an asset.
- French/English bilingualism is an asset but not required.
Why Join?
This is an opportunity to take ownership of the VDC function within an established and growing mechanical construction business.
Rather than simply producing models, you’ll have the ability to influence how VDC is used across projects, improve standards and processes, develop the team, and strengthen the connection between design, coordination, prefabrication, and field installation.
If you’re an experienced VDC professional with a strong understanding of mechanical/plumbing construction, Ontario codes, Revit, and team leadership, this is an opportunity to step into a role where you can have a genuine impact.
