In this position, you will collaborate with teams across our disability division and the broader organization, gaining valuable exposure to our business operations, processes, and systems.
Working closely with our front-line organization and system partners, you will identify business needs, analyze processes, and contribute to changes that improve how we work. These changes may involve business process improvements or enhancements to our systems.
This role is well suited to someone who enjoys investigating problems, working collaboratively, managing competing priorities, and following issues through to resolution. It provides an excellent opportunity to develop business analysis skills and build expertise in disability operations and supporting technologies.
What you will do:
- Support existing disability systems by providing technical and process assistance in response to inquiries from business operations staff.
- Work with business users and other stakeholders to identify, analyze, and document business needs and requirements.
- Use a variety of methods to gather information, such as interviews, workshops, process reviews, and document analysis.
- Document current and future business processes, system requirements, and proposed changes.
- Analyze the impacts of proposed solutions and help identify potential risks, dependencies, and implementation considerations.
- Investigate quality and efficiency concerns and contribute to the development of practical solutions.
- Work collaboratively with business, technology, and project partners throughout the solution-development lifecycle.
- Prepare findings and recommendations for review by project leads, business partners, and management.
- Develop acceptance-testing approaches, test cases, and test plans.
- Coordinate with business users to complete testing, document results, and help resolve identified issues.
- Contribute to implementation planning, including communication, training, documentation, and readiness activities.
- Develop and deliver training or process guidance to users, as required.
- Create and maintain clear, accurate project and departmental documentation.
- Participate in projects and other initiatives, completing assigned activities and helping the team meet its objectives and deadlines.
- Share knowledge and provide support to colleagues within the team.
What you will bring:
- Post-secondary education in business or a related field. Other educational backgrounds that demonstrate strong analytical and critical-thinking skills will also be considered.
- A solution-focused mindset and an interest in investigating and solving business problems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to listen to stakeholders, ask effective questions, and translate business needs into clear requirements.
- The ability to work collaboratively with business and technical partners.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work toward established deadlines.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
- A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Experience coaching, training, or assisting other employees.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, along with experience using process-mapping or similar business-analysis tools.
- Reliability Status Security Clearance – this can only be completed with candidates who receive an offer of employment. This is a personal security status that is required as a condition of employment before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada website. The cost of submitting these checks will be covered by Canada Life.
The following would be considered assets:
- Experience working as a business analyst or performing comparable analytical work.
- Experience facilitating discussions or presenting information to groups.
- Knowledge of group disability, insurance systems, or disability claims processes.
- Previous disability claims or case-management experience.
