Opportunity

Are you an experienced case management professional who combines sound judgment with genuine care for people? Do you enjoy assessing complex information, coordinating care, and helping people move forward following an injury?

As a Case Manager, you will manage claims through assessment and recovery, making informed benefit decisions, coordinating treatment and return-to-work activities, and working with claimants and healthcare providers, employers, and other involved parties to support positive recovery outcomes.

What you will be doing

  • Assess claim information to determine coverage, benefit eligibility, and entitlement in accordance with applicable legislation, policy provisions, and established authority.
  • Review medical, employment, income, and other relevant information to make and document well-supported claim and benefit decisions.
  • Calculate applicable benefits and monitor ongoing eligibility, changes in circumstances, and benefit payments.
  • Review medical reports and treatment plans and approve treatment requests within established authority.
  • Coordinate treatment, rehabilitation, additional assessments, and other services required to support recovery.
  • Develop and monitor individualized return-to-work or return-to-function plans in collaboration with claimants and other involved parties.
  • Maintain regular and empathetic communication with claimants, explaining benefit decisions, treatment approvals, documentation requirements, and next steps.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate reserves for assigned claims based on available information and anticipated claim exposure.
  • Manage claim activities and documentation, identify barriers to recovery, and ensure appropriate and timely follow-up.
  • Recognize complex, unusual, sensitive, or above-authority matters and seek appropriate consultation or escalate for further review.

What you bring to the team

  • 3–7 years of relevant experience in insurance claims, injury or disability case management, medical claims, healthcare, benefits administration, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess medical, employment, income, and other complex information
  • Experience coordinating treatment, rehabilitation, disability management, recovery, or return-to-work activities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain decisions clearly and communicate empathetically with injured claimants
  • Strong organization and case-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple claims, priorities, follow-ups, and deadlines
  • Previous Alberta Accident Benefits experience is preferred but not required
  • Experience managing complex or catastrophic injuries, income-replacement benefits, or matters involving significant financial exposure is considered an asset
  • CIP, healthcare credential, disability-management designation, or other relevant professional qualifications is considered an asset
  • Comfortable using claims management systems, Microsoft Office, and learning new systems and technology

How you will succeed

Success will be demonstrated by your ability to make accurate and well-supported claim and benefit decisions, effectively coordinate treatment and recovery, maintain appropriate reserves, and provide clear and empathetic support to claimants.
