Each day, our professionals provide exceptional service, helping clients with advice and insight they can trust. In turn, we offer an award-winning environment that fosters a people-first culture with a high priority on your personal and professional growth.

Your Opportunity

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for establishing and executing the firm's enterprise technology strategy, ensuring technology capabilities enable business growth, operational excellence, security, and an exceptional people experience.

Reporting to the Chief Digital & Technology Officer, the CIO partners closely with Managing Partners, business leaders, and C-suite colleagues to align technology investments and services with strategic priorities. The CIO leads enterprise technology operations, architecture, infrastructure, end-user technology services, cybersecurity enablement, vendor partnerships, and workforce planning while fostering a modern, secure, and high-performing digital workplace.

The CIO is accountable for delivering reliable, scalable, secure, and cost-effective technology services that enable our people to do their best work and support the firm's continued growth and transformation. This role requires technical depth to guide architecture, platforms, security, data, integration, and service delivery decisions, combined with the business fluency to align stakeholders around practical outcomes.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

Enterprise Technology Strategy & Business Partnership

  • Develop and execute a multi-year enterprise technology strategy, roadmaps, investment priorities, and operating plans aligned with firm priorities and business objectives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team, Managing Partners, and business leaders, translating business priorities into practical technology initiatives with measurable outcomes and clear value realization.
  • Anticipate emerging technology trends and assess opportunities to leverage AI, automation, cloud, and modern workplace capabilities to improve productivity, employee experience, and business performance.
  • Communicate technology strategy, risks, investments, and outcomes in clear business terms and represent technology leadership in executive forums, governance committees, and strategic planning discussions.

Technology Architecture, Platforms & Modernization

  • Provide senior technical leadership across enterprise architecture, infrastructure, applications, integration, identity, data, cloud, and solution architecture, establishing standards and decision frameworks that support secure, scalable, resilient, and maintainable solutions.
  • Lead technical trade-off and investment discussions across modernization, build-versus-buy decisions, platform consolidation, integration patterns, technical debt, resiliency, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership.
  • Guide the evolution of cloud and hybrid platforms, enterprise integration, data platforms, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities in partnership with data, AI, security, and business leaders.
  • Drive modernization of infrastructure, networks, identity and access management, endpoint and collaboration platforms, monitoring, and operational tooling, supported by disciplined delivery practices such as DevSecOps, automation, observability, and continuous improvement.
  • Translate complex technical issues into clear business choices, risks, investment implications, and recommended actions for senior stakeholders.

Technology Operations, Digital Workplace & Resilience

  • Provide strategic oversight of enterprise technology operations, infrastructure, end-user services, service management, and the modern workplace, ensuring reliable, scalable, resilient, and productive technology experiences.
  • Establish service standards, operating metrics, and performance expectations, using employee feedback and service insights to continuously improve the technology experience.
  • Lead business continuity, disaster recovery, operational resiliency, and technology adoption efforts while balancing user experience, accessibility, security, scalability, and cost effectiveness.

Security, Risk, Governance & Investment

  • Partner closely with Information Security leadership to maintain a strong enterprise security posture while enabling business agility, ensuring technology operates within established security, privacy, risk, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and maintain effective technology governance, architecture standards, policies, controls, and risk-management practices that are measurable, auditable, and aligned with enterprise risk appetite.
  • Develop and manage the enterprise technology budget and strategic vendor portfolio, overseeing sourcing, contract negotiations, performance, and investment decisions to maximize business value, service quality, and cost effectiveness.

People & Organizational Leadership

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing technology organization focused on service excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Attract, develop, retain, and succession-plan technology talent capable of supporting current and future business needs, partnering with Human Resources on workforce planning, career development, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Foster an inclusive, learning-oriented culture where people are empowered to grow, collaborate, challenge thinking, and deliver meaningful outcomes.

How Do We Define Success for Your Role?

  • You bring BDO's strategy to life by leading with genuine care, focusing on what matters most, embracing progress over preservation, and fostering a culture where people can do more together.

  • You deliver a secure, resilient, reliable, and modern technology environment that supports exceptional employee and client experiences while enabling innovation and business agility.
  • You build a high-performing, accountable technology organization with the talent and capabilities required to support the firm's continued growth and transformation.
  • You maximize value from technology investments through disciplined planning and execution, strong governance, strategic partnerships, and continuous improvement.

Your Experience & Education

  • You have a proven track record developing and executing enterprise technology strategies and leading significant modernization, transformation, operating model evolution, and organizational change.
  • You bring practical technical fluency across enterprise architecture, cloud and hybrid infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, data platforms, integration, automation, identity and access management, service management, and modern workplace technologies.
  • You understand how AI, automation, cloud, cybersecurity, and emerging digital capabilities can be applied responsibly to improve productivity, resilience, service quality, and employee experience.
  • You are an exceptional communicator and business partner who can influence C-suite executives and senior leaders, translate complex technology decisions into clear business implications, and align investments to organizational priorities and measurable outcomes.
  • You have significant experience managing enterprise technology investments, budgets, strategic vendors, service performance, risk, governance, and operational resilience.
  • You bring strong leadership, talent development, and coaching capabilities, with a demonstrated ability to build inclusive, high-performing technology teams.
  • You are familiar with recognized technology, architecture, security, and service-management frameworks such as ITIL 4, COBIT, TOGAF, NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, Zero Trust, Agile, DevSecOps, SRE, FinOps, and cloud well-architected practices.
  • You hold a university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline. An advanced degree or relevant executive technology certification is considered an asset.
  • Experience within professional services, consulting, or a similarly complex, relationship-driven organization is considered a strong asset.
