Job description

About Altis Labs

Altis is the AI endpoint company accelerating clinical trials. Altis was founded on the premise that AI's greatest potential lies in generating better evidence, faster, so that patients can access the most effective novel treatments sooner.

In close partnership with leading cancer centers, Altis has trained its AI model, IPRO, on the industry’s largest multimodal oncology database comprising longitudinal imaging, molecular, clinical, and outcomes data spanning over 500,000 patient years. Top 20 biopharma companies use IPRO to more confidently analyze data from phase 1-3 clinical trials and inform billion-dollar development decisions.

Altis is headquartered in Toronto, the birthplace of deep learning, and is backed by leading life sciences and AI investors including OrbiMed, Qiming US, Innovation Endeavors, Benchstrength, and others. Having recently closed our Series A, we are actively scaling our team in Canada and the US across functional areas.

About the Role

Altis is hiring a Chief of Staff to be the Founder/CEO’s strategic and execution partner. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will turn priorities into plans, help lead our most important cross-functional programs, own the annual budget and board cycle, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.

Fresh off our Series A, this is a rare seat. You will work alongside the CEO and in the boardroom as the company scales, with an active remit to shape how decisions get made and priorities get delivered. The planning, program discipline, and financial rigor you bring will set the rhythm of how Altis executes as we grow. You will collaborate with leaders and team members across every function.

This is a full-time role based at our Toronto HQ, in the office at least three days per week.

What You’ll Own:

  • Financial planning & budgeting: Own the annual budget and planning process in partnership with the CEO and our finance function. Build the financial and scenario models behind strategic decisions, fundraising, and board discussions, and track performance against plan.

  • Business performance & insight: Partner with functional owners to maintain a full, current view of company KPIs and performance, and translate it into clear insight for the CEO, leadership team, and board.

  • Special projects: Lead high-priority strategic and operational initiatives across the organization, from assessing new opportunities and conducting research to building go-forward plans and translating recommendations into results.

  • Board & internal operating cadence: Own the board cycle: build decks and pre-reads, attend board and strategic partner meetings, and drive follow-ups to completion. Run leadership meetings, offsites, and all-hands end to end, from agenda and pre-work to logistics and action tracking. You’ll handle the details personally, because no task is too small when excellence is your target.

  • CEO partnership & strategic projects: Act as the CEO’s right hand: manage priorities, prepare the CEO and leadership team for high-stakes meetings (board, investors, biopharma partners, media), and support fundraising/IR and key partnerships.

What Success Looks Like in Your First 6-12 Months:

  • A clear operating rhythm is in place: leadership meetings, planning, and board cycles run on time, every time, without the CEO having to drive them

  • The annual budget and planning process is streamlined with frictionless functioning end to end, with clear models, scenarios, and regular tracking against plan

  • Company priorities are translated into a tracked portfolio of programs with clear owners, milestones, and visible progress

  • Board meetings are well prepared, materials go out on schedule, and action items are closed, with a clear, data-grounded view of business performance

  • The CEO has meaningfully more time for customers, fundraising, and strategy, and the leadership team sees you as a trusted, go-to partner

  • You have delivered at least one high-impact strategic or operational project from idea to result

What You Bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, corporate finance or strategy, or business operations at a high-growth tech or life sciences company

  • Hands-on financial expertise: building financial models, budgets, and management and board reporting. Investment banking, corporate finance, or equivalent training is strongly preferred

  • A proven track record of leading cross-functional programs to delivery, not just supporting them, with strong project and program management discipline

  • Strongly preferred: experience in or exposure to life sciences, biopharma, clinical trials, healthcare, or health tech. You’ll ramp faster and earn credibility with our biopharma partners and scientific team

  • Executive presence and sound judgment: you are comfortable in the boardroom and with investors and senior biopharma stakeholders, and can represent the CEO credibly

  • Exceptional organization and follow-through: you run meetings, calendars, and logistics flawlessly and keep many workstreams moving at once

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (board-quality PowerPoint, Excel modeling, Word) and an AI-native approach: you use AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) and automation to scale yourself and the team

  • You have a strong ability to research, analyze, and synthesize quantitative and qualitative information

  • You are an exceptional writer and communicator

  • You exercise absolute discretion with confidential information, including board, fundraising, compensation, and personnel matters

  • You are affable, low-ego, and a pleasure to be around, with high levels of self-awareness and empathy combined with a strong work ethic and a willingness to do whatever needs to get done

Nice to have:

  • You have experience in AI, oncology, or clinical trial operations

  • You have experience interfacing with multinational clients and/or investors

  • You have supported a fundraise, board, or investor relations process

Compensation & Benefits:

Competitive base salary, meaningful equity, and comprehensive benefits.

Altis Labs is committed to an inclusive and accessible recruitment process. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.
