We offer flexible work hours and hybrid work arrangement options to help balance the competing demands of work and personal life.

About Dillon

Dillon Consulting Limited (Dillon) is a proudly Canadian, 100% employee-owned professional consulting firm specializing in planning, engineering, environmental science, and management. Responsibilities

About the Role

As a Civil Engineer in this seller-doer role, you will win and deliver municipal and community infrastructure projects, balancing technical execution with active client development. In this client-facing role, you will connect local needs with Dillon’s broader technical capabilities, leading projects from initial planning and design through construction and follow-through.

Project Delivery & Coordination

  • Lead civil design and multidisciplinary coordination for Northern municipal infrastructure, including water,/wastewater, roads, drainage, site servicing, subdivision development, and community renewals.
  • Act as Project Manager or technical lead, ensuring projects are culturally respectful, technically sound, and compliant with permafrost and local standards.
  • Conduct field reviews, site visits, and construction support in Iqaluit and remote Nunavut communities.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and connect clients with the right expertise across Dillon.

Client Development & Local Presence

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with Government of Nunavut departments, hamlets and municipalities, Inuit organizations, federal agencies, and community and industry partners.
  • Serve as a visible Dillon representative in Nunavut, supporting early-stage pursuits, proposals, and community engagement; use local presence to strengthen project follow-through.
  • Identify strategic growth opportunities to expand Dillon’s regional impact and client confidence.
  • Participate in early-stage client conversations and help shape opportunities before formal RFPs are issued.

Practice Growth & Team Building

  • Help establish and grow the Iqaluit office as a local hub for project delivery, client engagement, partner collaboration, and recruitment.
  • Partner with the Yellowknife and national teams to streamline Northern project delivery and build local capacity.

Learning & Development

  • A commitment to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring.
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer registered with NAPEG (Northwest Territories and Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists), or eligible for registration and able to obtain it within six months of joining.
  • Living in or having deep experience working in Nunavut, enrollment as an Inuk under the Nunavut Agreement, knowledge of Inuit culture and governance, Inuktut language skills, and/or Inuit representation are all considered significant assets.
  • Nunavut recognizes Inuktut, English, and French as its official languages, and fluency in more than one is considered an asset. However, resumes should be submitted in English to support the recruitment process. Additionally, preference will be given to candidates who bring northern cross-cultural work experience and an understanding of Inuit communities, land, culture, Inuktut, and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit.

Experience

  • 5+ years in consulting, municipal/community infrastructure, or related project delivery (less experience considered with relevant northern/Nunavut experience).
  • Experience delivering or coordinating civil and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to work across disciplines, coordinate technical teams, and communicate effectively with clients and community stakeholders.
  • Interest in business development, client relationship-building, and proposal support.
  • Experience with territorial, municipal, Inuit organization, housing, or utility clients.
  • Knowledge of northern construction logistics, fieldwork, contract administration, or community engagement.
  • Exposure to environmental approvals, permitting, or multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.

In addition to a competitive base salary, Dillon offers:

  • Northern Benefits & Allowance
    • To experience the best of the North and support your lifestyle, a monthly Northern Location Allowance is offered in addition to the base salary.
