Job description

At Gore Mutual, we’ve always set ourselves apart as a modern mutual that does good. Now, we’re proudly building on that legacy to transform our company—and our industry—for the better.

Effective January 1, 2026, Gore has joined Beneva—the country’s largest mutual insurance company—as part of its Property & Casualty operations in Ontario and Western Canada. During 2026, Gore will combine its operations with Unica Insurance, Beneva’s Ontario-based subsidiary specializing in niche commercial and personal insurance, creating a stronger, more diversified mutual insurer with greater scale and long-term stability.

Every decision and investment remains anchored in long-term benefits to customers, members, and communities. Come join us.

Join our Claims team as a Property Claims Advisor, where you’ll play an important role in supporting customers when they need us most. You’ll independently manage a portfolio of primarily personal property claims, investigating losses, evaluating coverage, negotiating settlements, and guiding claims through to resolution. This is a great opportunity to deepen your property claims expertise, deliver a positive customer experience, and continue growing your career within a collaborative and supportive team.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough and timely investigations of personal property losses, gathering and analyzing evidence to determine cause, scope of damage, and coverage, while clearly documenting findings in the claim file.
  • Assess coverage and establish accurate reserves by analyzing policy wordings, endorsements, investigation findings, and applicable personal property insurance requirements.
  • Consult senior adjusters or underwriters on complex matters, adjusting reserves as new information becomes available.
  • Negotiate fair and equitable claim settlements, balancing customer needs with appropriate cost management.
  • Clearly communicate coverage and settlement decisions, escalating complex or high-value matters when appropriate.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the claims process by building trust, managing expectations, and maintaining open and transparent communication.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries, provide regular claim updates, and clearly explain claims processes and procedures to policyholders and brokers.
  • Address customer concerns within established guidelines and escalate complaints or sensitive matters when appropriate.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities within personal property claims to support process improvements, operational efficiency, and risk mitigation.
  • Participate in post-loss reviews and team discussions, sharing insights and staying current on industry and regulatory developments that impact claims handling.

Requirements:

  • Property claims adjusting experience and in-depth knowledge of personal property insurance principles and practice is preferred.
  • Experience with personal insurance policies and demonstrated ability to handle moderately complex claims.
  • Customer service experience and experience using claims management systems.
  • Community College diploma is preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized as well as proficient in using technology.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills as well as adaptability and flexibility.
  • Commitment to continuous learning.

Please note that this role operates in a hybrid environment, with two days a week expected in our Cambridge or Toronto office.

The expected base salary range for this position is $52,500 - $86,500. Depending on your relevant experience, skills, qualifications, market conditions and business needs, base compensation may vary. You have the potential to earn more through Gore Mutual’s discretionary bonus program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.

Please note: This range reflects the expected base salary for this role but may not represent the full compensation range for all experience and skill levels. During the recruitment process, we will discuss and consider how your unique qualifications align with the broader range for this position.

Gore Mutual is proud to offer a comprehensive total rewards package which includes extended health and dental benefits, disability insurance, retirement plan matching, paid time off, recognition and perk programs.
