Job description
About Xanadu:
Xanadu’s mission is to build quantum computers that are useful and available to people everywhere.

At Xanadu, we are learners, innovators, researchers, collaborators and problem solvers. We are creating something that has never been built before. What we are doing is extremely hard, the classic moon shot. Few people in their life will be able to be a part of something like this, where if we are successful, the technologies we develop will solve some of the world’s most challenging problems and literally change the world. And that is something to be excited about!

Your role and responsibilities:
As a Cloud Engineer, you will contribute to the cloud platform and the infrastructure which hosts all our internal projects workloads. You will work on a team to support and maintain infrastructure across many teams at Xanadu. The Platform team’s primary goal is to help ensure all team’s cloud-based workloads are running efficiently, secured, and highly available to empower our colleagues to build the first commercially viable quantum computer. As a result, you will completely reshape the nature of computation as we know it. You will:
  • Design, build, deploy, and maintain our cloud platform infrastructure that hosts various projects and workloads across many teams.
  • Implement robust observability and alerting solutions to proactively monitor our platform health and troubleshoot complex networks.
  • Design security policies and processes for our cloud platform.
  • Consult with teams and migrate existing projects to our centralized network.
  • Ensure high-quality production code by maintaining Infrastructure as Code repositories.

At Xanadu, we primarily work with AWS, Terraform, Docker, Python, and Github Actions. Proficiency in at least a subset of these technologies is essential.

Basic qualifications and experience:
  • BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of cloud engineering experience.
  • Strong experience with any major cloud providers: AWS, GCP or Azure.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools and best practices.
  • Experience transforming traditional on-site hardware and software configurations into a cloud-native solution.
  • Experience with Python (scripting).
  • Self-driven to deliver high-quality solutions to your stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred qualifications and experience:
  • Strong experience with AWS
  • Experience with hybrid cloud solutions.
  • Experience with Terraform.
  • Experience with VPNs, bonus points for Zero-trust VPNs.
  • Experience with cloud-based SecOps.

This is for a new position. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and internal benchmarks. The base salary range is 110,000 - 150,000 CAD. You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.

Our values are important. They are fundamental and lay the foundation for culture at Xanadu. Learn more about our values here.
