About Our Corporate Services Group

Corporate Services is made up of seven teams: Office of the CEO, Business Systems, Communications and Connections, Finance, Global Marketing, IT, and People and Culture. We are a group of service-minded people focused on building smart, customer-focused processes that work for every team across Explore Edmonton.

We provide the foundation for day-to-day business, including governance, advice and support, scalable solutions, Shareholder reporting, and creating value for employees by building connections throughout the organization and in our community.

We serve internal teams as trusted partners and business enablers, delivering great service through collaboration, innovation, and leadership. Our goal is to help every Explorer do their best work.

Information Technology

The IT team keeps Explore Edmonton connected through reliable technology and secure systems. We provide the technology employees use every day and help teams explore what's possible, whether that's responsive IT support, rolling out new technology or planning for the future. Our focus is on practical solutions that make technology simpler and more effective, so people can collaborate with confidence and turn ideas into action.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Technology, the Cloud & Integration Architect bridges the gap between Technology Services and Technology Operations by translating business and project needs into secure, scalable, supportable technology solutions. This role provides hands-on technical leadership and solution architecture for Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, cloud services, SaaS applications, integrations, automation, and related enterprise platforms. Working closely with IT leadership, project teams, vendors, business units, and operational support teams, the role helps design, document, implement, and transition solutions that align with Explore Edmonton’s technology standards, architecture direction, security expectations, and operational support model. The position also provides a smaller but important business analysis function by collaboratively gathering requirements, clarifying business processes, supporting stakeholder conversations, and ensuring technology solutions are practical, well understood, and ready for adoption.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Design and support cloud and integration solutions across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, SaaS platforms, and related enterprise applications.
  • Act as a solution architect for projects by translating business, technical, security, and operational needs into practical solution designs.
  • Develop integration patterns, data flows, interface requirements, and technical approaches that connect applications, cloud services, and business processes.
  • Support Azure services, identity integrations, automation, monitoring, and cloud-native capabilities in collaboration with Technology Operations.
  • Support SaaS application selection, configuration, implementation, and integration in collaboration with Technology Services and business stakeholders.
  • Review proposed solutions for scalability, security, reliability, cost effectiveness, maintainability, and alignment with technology standards.
  • Create and maintain clear architecture, integration, configuration, and operational support documentation.
  • Bridge Technology Services and Technology Operations by ensuring solutions are designed with both business delivery and operational support needs in mind.
  • Work with project teams to define solution scope, technical requirements, dependencies, risks, assumptions, and implementation considerations.
  • Coordinate technical handoffs, support models, documentation, monitoring needs, and operational readiness activities before solutions move into production.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership, vendors, managed service providers, and internal teams to resolve design questions and remove delivery blockers.
  • Support change planning, testing, deployment, acceptance, and transition activities for new or changed cloud, SaaS, and integration services.
  • Identify opportunities to improve technology processes, reduce duplication, standardize integrations, and improve reliability across applications and cloud platforms.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to IT team members to strengthen internal cloud, SaaS, and integration capability.
  • Lead the technical solution design component of projects involving Azure, Microsoft 365, SaaS applications, integrations, automation, data movement, and enterprise platforms.
  • Develop solution options, technical recommendations, and implementation approaches that balance business outcomes, user experience, security, cost, and operational supportability.
  • Assess proposed vendor solutions and project designs for alignment with Explore Edmonton’s technology environment, integration needs, support model, and architecture direction.
  • Support proof-of-concepts, pilot implementations, technical testing, user acceptance readiness, and production deployment planning.
  • Contribute to project estimates, sequencing, risk identification, dependency mapping, and technical decision records.
  • Ensure solutions are designed with appropriate security, identity, access, data protection, logging, monitoring, and continuity considerations.
  • Prepare clear technical documentation, diagrams, transition notes, and support materials for project stakeholders and operational teams.
  • Work collaboratively with business units to understand needs, clarify problems, document requirements, and identify practical technology options.
  • Facilitate supportive conversations with stakeholders to map current-state and future-state processes, identify pain points, and define desired outcomes.
  • Translate business requirements into functional, technical, integration, reporting, and support requirements for project teams and vendors.
  • Support business case development, solution comparison, user acceptance planning, change readiness, and adoption activities as required.
  • Help stakeholders understand technical constraints and options using plain language, patience, and a service-oriented approach.
  • Maintain requirements, process, decision, and action documentation that is clear, organized, and accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 guidance for cloud, SaaS, integration, automation, and application-related escalations where specialist knowledge is required.
  • Support troubleshooting of integration failures, configuration issues, access problems, and service interruptions in partnership with Technology Operations, Technology Services, vendors, and the service desk.
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to reduce support effort, improve stability, and strengthen user experience.
  • Share knowledge, create support materials, and assist the support team during periods of high demand or project transition.

What you bring:

  • Post-secondary education in information technology, computer science, business analysis, systems analysis, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.

  • 5+ years of related experience in cloud platforms, SaaS applications, systems integration, solution design, application support, or business-facing technology delivery.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, cloud services, SaaS platforms, and enterprise application integration concepts.
  • Ability to translate business needs into secure, scalable, reliable, and supportable technology solutions.
  • Experience designing or supporting integrations, APIs, workflows, automations, scripts, data movement, and application connectivity.
  • Experience acting as a solution architect or technical lead on projects involving cloud, SaaS, applications, data, or infrastructure dependencies.
  • Understanding of identity, access, security, logging, monitoring, change management, and operational support considerations for cloud and SaaS solutions.
  • Ability to bridge technical and non-technical teams and communicate clearly with stakeholders at different levels of technical understanding.
  • Collaborative, supportive, and service-oriented approach to business analysis, stakeholder engagement, and problem solving.
  • Experience gathering requirements, documenting processes, defining solution options, and supporting user acceptance and adoption activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear documentation, diagrams, requirements, and transition materials.
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while leading without authority across projects and operational activities.
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to balance business outcomes, technical quality, security, cost, and operational sustainability.
