We are seeking an experienced Communications & WordPress Contractor to support the development, maintenance, and delivery of ACEH's communications. This contractor will help us strengthen our online presence, maintain our website, and develop professional, engaging communications that reflect our organizational identity, values, and impact.

Scope of Services

The successful contractor will provide a combination of website management, communications development, and reporting support, including:

  • Maintain, update, and improve ACEH's website using WordPress.
  • Post and update website content, including news, announcements, program information, reports, and organizational updates.
  • Ensure website content is accurate, accessible, visually consistent, and aligned with ACEH's branding.
  • Troubleshoot website issues and recommend improvements to functionality, navigation, accessibility, and user experience.
  • Support website content organization and ensure information remains current and relevant.

Communications & Content Development

  • Draft, edit, and develop communications materials that reflect ACEH's voice, branding, and values.
  • Prepare content for newsletters, website updates, social media, organizational announcements, and other communications as needed.
  • Develop communications that highlight ACEH's programs, initiatives, partnerships, achievements, and impact.
  • Translate organizational information, program updates, and internal content into clear, engaging communications for external audiences.
  • Ensure all materials are professional, consistent, culturally respectful, and aligned with ACEH's communications approach.
  • Collaborate with ACEH staff to identify communications needs, gather information, and develop content that accurately represents our work.

Reports & Organizational Materials

  • Support the preparation, editing, formatting, and design of organizational reports, including annual reports, impact reports, and other publications.
  • Help communicate program outcomes, organizational achievements, and stories of impact in accessible and engaging formats.
  • Apply ACEH's branding consistently across reports, presentations, publications, and other communications materials.
  • Assist with the development of templates and communications resources that support consistency across the organization.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal contractor will have:

  • Demonstrated expertise in WordPress, including website maintenance, content updates, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience developing communications strategies and producing high-quality written content for organizations.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt content for different audiences and platforms.
  • Experience with organizational branding and the development of visually consistent communications materials.
  • Experience preparing annual reports, impact reports, publications, or similar organizational documents.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with staff, take initiative, and work independently.
  • An understanding of Indigenous-led organizations, Indigenous perspectives, and culturally respectful communications practices is an asset.

Experience working with Indigenous organizations, non-profits, housing providers, or social services organizations is considered an asset.

Contract Arrangement

ACEH is accepting applications from qualified contractors to identify the right fit for our communications needs and budget.

At this stage, we are open to discussing different arrangements, which may include:

  • Ongoing support for an agreed number of hours per week.
  • Project-based work with defined deliverables.
  • As-needed support for website updates, reports, and communications requests.
  • A flexible combination of ongoing and project-based services.

Applications will be reviewed based on relevant experience, demonstrated expertise, proposed rates, and alignment with ACEH's needs and available budget. Shortlisted applicants may be contacted to discuss their experience, proposed approach, availability, rates, and the scope of work. The final arrangement will be determined collaboratively with the successful contractor.

Preference will be given to Indigenous applicants. ACEH is committed to Indigenous leadership and welcomes applications from individuals who bring relevant professional experience, cultural knowledge, and a commitment to our mission.

How to Apply

Please submit an application that includes:

  • A brief introduction outlining your experience and interest in working with ACEH.
  • Your proposed rate, including your hourly rate and/or project-based pricing, as applicable.
  • Examples of your work or a portfolio, ideally including WordPress websites you have managed or developed, communications materials, reports, newsletters, or other relevant publications.
  • A brief overview of your experience with WordPress, communications development, organizational branding, and reporting.
  • Your availability and any initial thoughts on your preferred contract arrangement.

Please note that ACEH is exploring its needs and budget and has not yet established a fixed number of weekly hours or a finalized scope of work. These details will be discussed with prospective contractors as part of the selection process.

We look forward to connecting with a skilled communications professional who can help strengthen ACEH's communications and share the impact of our work with our communities, partners, funders, and supporters.
