At Larga, we support guests from the Northwest Territories and Nunavut who are in Edmonton for medical care. Our kitchen is the heart of our home-away-from-home — serving fresh, nutritious meals with care, compassion, and cultural respect.

We are looking for a creative, experienced Cook to join our team. If you're passionate about scratch cooking, food quality, and making a difference in people’s lives, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare three daily meals following the Canadian Food Guide, with attention to dietary needs (e.g., allergies, soft/salt-free/clear fluid diets)
  • Cook from scratch and develop menus that are nourishing and appealing
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of kitchen, equipment, and prep areas
  • Monitor food storage temperatures and stock levels; track expiry dates and replenish supplies
  • Ensure food safety and sanitation regulations are followed at all times
  • Support and mentor junior kitchen staff, and collaborate with the kitchen team for smooth service
  • Assist with inventory control, ordering, and receiving kitchen deliveries
  • Wash dishes, remove garbage, and perform scheduled deep cleaning tasks
  • Log communication notes, submit accurate time sheets, and participate in staff meetings
  • Step in for Kitchen Helper or Dining Attendant tasks when needed
  • Respond to guest inquiries with respect and refer them to appropriate staff if needed

What We’re Looking For

  • 2+ years of previous cooking experience in a professional kitchen
  • Able to plan and prepare meals from scratch, including for guests with dietary restrictions
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and inventory management
  • Self-motivated and organized with excellent time management skills
  • Team player with strong communication skills
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and annual medical exam
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment

Preferred (but not required):

  • Food Safe, WHMIS, CPR/First Aid, Emergency Response, Non-Crisis Intervention certifications
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures/languages
  • Interest in pursuing trade certification or mentoring junior staff

What We Offer

  • Discounted Staff Meals – Enjoy hot, home-cooked meals on-site
  • Meaningful Work – Serve guests who rely on comfort, respect, and culturally safe care
  • Supportive Team Culture – Work with kind, committed people who value teamwork

Our Values

  • Authenticity – Be real. Act with integrity.
  • Courage – Do what’s right, even when it’s hard.
  • Kindness – Act with care and compassion.
  • Tradition – Honour our roots and respect Indigenous ways.

Make a difference three times a day.
