Position Summary

The Data Integration Analyst is responsible for analyzing, documenting, coordinating, monitoring, and supporting data integrations and automations that enable operational and analytical reporting. The role ensures the reliability, quality, and continuity of data flows between source systems, reporting platforms, and the enterprise data warehouse while assessing the impact of system changes and identifying opportunities for process automation and improvement.

Your Key Responsibilities

Data Integration Management & Support

  • Analyze and document requirements and technical specifications, including source-to-target mappings, for new or changed data integrations.
  • Coordinate integration development activities with BI Developers and business stakeholders from requirements through deployment.
  • Define acceptance criteria/data quality checks and perform data validation and user acceptance testing prior to production release.
  • Monitor active integrations in production systems to confirm successful execution, data completeness, and data accuracy.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and coordinate resolution of failures, data quality issues, and incidents affecting newly deployed and established production integrations.

Source System Change Management & Impact Assessment

  • Maintain working relationships with source system owners and vendors to obtain early notice of planned changes.
  • Review source system releases, schema modifications, pull requests, and vendor changes, and analyze impacts to integrations, reporting solutions, data warehouse structures, and automated processes.
  • Coordinate testing and validation related to source system changes, including regression testing of affected downstream assets.
  • Communicate risks, impacts, and recommendations to stakeholders and technical resources.

Automation Analysis & Process Improvement

  • Analyze business processes to identify automation opportunities that improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance data quality.
  • Support implementation of automation solutions by clarifying requirements and validating outcomes with developers and stakeholders.
  • Confirm automations are production-ready, with defined business ownership, exception handling, and failure notification.

Metadata & Data Lineage Management

  • Document and maintain data lineage from source systems through integration processes into the enterprise data warehouse, incorporating integration specifications and mappings as the system of record.
  • Maintain metadata repositories, data dictionaries, integration inventories, and change impact history for BIS-managed assets.
  • Document business rules, transformation logic, and data dependencies.
  • Identify and tag sensitive data elements (e.g., personal and health information) in metadata to support privacy and access controls.
  • Support data retention and administration practices related to BIS-managed data assets.
  • Keep documentation and inventories current through updates following system, integration, or automation changes and periodic accuracy reviews.

Your Education and Experience

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Information Management, or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in data integration, business intelligence, business analysis, data warehousing, data analysis, or related information technology functions.
  • Experience in SQL, SSIS, dimensional modelling (Kimball/star schema), business analysis, documentation, technical communication, data quality validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Certification in Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Data Platform, project management or business analysis is an asset.

Your Abilities

  • Ability to independently analyze complex issues, identify significant risks, and assess cross-functional impacts to support informed decision-making.
  • Analyze process and data flow requirements to develop recommendations and support the implementation of approved solutions.
  • Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to trace data lineage, evaluate business rules, determine root causes, and recommend effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide subject matter expertise in data flows, system integrations, metadata, and data dependencies.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into actionable recommendations.
