Who we need

Reporting to the VP, Business Transformation, we are hiring Digital Transformation Interns (AI & Process Improvement) to join our Digital Transformation team for a four- or eight-month term beginning in January 2027. As our new Digital Transformation Intern, you will be assigned to a delivery pod alongside our Digital Transformation Partners and AI delivery leads, and you will own real work: understanding how a business process runs today, finding where it breaks down, building an AI-enabled solution, testing it with the people who will use it, and helping put it into production.

WELL’s Digital Transformation team works across the enterprise, including Finance, People & Culture, Legal, Marketing, and Clinic Operations, to redesign how work gets done and apply automation and AI where they create the greatest value. The team is organized around four capabilities: Data, AI, Digital Transformation and ERP. You will build with the same tools our full-time team uses, including Microsoft Copilot and Azure AI Foundry, on top of WELL’s intelligence platform.

This is a full-time internship or co-op placement remote role requiring the flexibility to meet in person in Vancouver or Toronto twice a month for focused working sessions, collaboration, and mentorship.

Who you are

We are looking for students currently enrolled in an undergraduate program who will return to their studies after the placement. We welcome students at different stages of their degree, including those pursuing an internship, completing their first work term, and those with previous co-op experience.

We are looking for students who are genuinely AI-native - people who already reach for these tools by instinct - and who pair that with real functional grounding in an area such as finance, human resources or operations. The combination is the point. Understanding how a business function actually works is what separates an AI solution people adopt from one they quietly ignore.

What’s in it for you

Real-world impact. You will go beyond experimenting with AI to build solutions that solve real business challenges. From identifying opportunities to developing, testing, and deploying AI-enabled tools, you will see how your work can improve processes and make a meaningful difference across a leading healthcare organization.

Mentorship and learning. You will work alongside Digital Transformation Partners and Applied AI Engineers who will guide and challenge you as you develop your technical and problem-solving skills. You will gain hands-on experience with enterprise AI tools, learn how transformation initiatives move from idea to implementation, and have opportunities to share your work with senior leaders.

A foundation for your career. You will gain exposure to different business functions, including Finance, People & Culture, Legal, Marketing, and Clinic Operations, while taking ownership of meaningful projects. You will build practical experience at the intersection of AI, technology, and business transformation, developing skills you can carry into your future career.

As our new Digital Transformation Intern, you will

  • Understand the current state. You will meet with the people doing the work, map how a process runs today, and find where time, quality or data is being lost.
  • Identify the opportunity. You will be embedded in a pod and work the full cycle on live problems. You will assess the problem, shape the options, and make a clear recommendation about what is worth building and why. You will develop a business case with a clear value or outcome to be achieved, along with the investment needed to deliver.
  • Build. You will develop AI-enabled solutions, assistants, agents and automations using Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI Foundry and related tools. You may choose to leverage solutions like PowerBI dashboards or Power Automate workflows to improve access to data, provide insights, and reduce manual work.
  • Test and refine. Put working solutions in front of real users, gather feedback, measure whether the solution actually helps, and improve it.
  • Deploy and drive adoption. You will work through the practical parts of a launch, from documentation and training to access, controls and handover, ensuring that what you built is still being used after your term ends.
  • Learn and grow. You will be supported throughout. You will have a Digital Transformation Partner as your day-to-day mentor, a structured onboarding into our tools and methods, and direct exposure to the function leaders whose processes you are improving.

You bring

  • The functional background. You are a third or fourth year student in a program such as business, commerce, finance, human resources, operations management, industrial engineering, information systems or analytics. You are returning to study after your placement, or graduating shortly after it. More important than your specific program is evidence that you can understand how work gets done and then build something that improves it.
  • The fluency with AI tools. You already use tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or Microsoft Copilot in your coursework and projects, and you have a practical sense of what they are good at and where they fall down.
  • The process improvement instinct. You notice when something is being done the hard way and you want to fix it. Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma or process mapping is an asset rather than a requirement.
  • The comfort building things. You have built automations, workflows, agents, scripts or applications, whether low-code or otherwise. You do not need to be a software engineer, but you do need to be someone who builds rather than only recommends.
  • The communication skills. You can explain a technical idea to a non-technical audience, run a working session with people more senior than you, and write well.
  • The availability. You can commit to a full-time placement of four or eight months beginning in January 2027, whether through a formal co-op or internship program or otherwise.

Compensation

The salary for this position is $65,000 annualized and prorated based on internship term. The salary will be determined based on several factors, including experience, qualifications, skills, and the needs of the organization. At WELL, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation and aim to provide competitive compensation that reflects the value and expertise of the successful candidate.
