The role

We’re looking for a commercially minded strategy leader to help shape the next phase of consumer growth for AutoTrader and AutoHebdo, two of Canada's leading consumer brands.

This is an opportunity to own the consumer marketing growth agenda and lead a multi-million CA$ budget. You'll set marketing priorities and drive growth across Performance Marketing, brand, social media and editorial content.

You'll use data and consumer insights to identify opportunities, make investment decisions and drive execution alongside teams in Canada and across the Autonex group.

This is a hands-on strategy role, working closely with the Canadian executive leadership team on our consumer marketing strategy and execution. You'll report to the VP, Global Consumer Brand and Canada Consumer Marketing, lead a small Canada-based team and steer shared Performance and Analytics teams through cross-functional influence.

Success will depend as much on your ability to influence, challenge and mobilise others as on your own analytical and commercial judgment. While there will be campaigns to run - this is an analytical data-driven strategy role with a marketing bent, not an integrated campaigns / media planning role.

We're open to different backgrounds. You might come from strategy consulting, consumer growth or marketing leadership. What matters is your ability to connect data, consumer insight and commercial strategy - and deliver measurable results.

What you'll do

  • Deeply understand performance drivers. Proactively go beyond top-line numbers to identify growth drivers, regional and channel differences, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead investment decisions. Recommend monthly regional and channel spend adjustments based on business priorities, unit economics and performance data.
  • Steer Performance Marketing, via influence. Challenge campaign strategies and drive implementation, working with the centrally managed Performance Marketing team.
  • Shape brand priorities. Use consumer insights to guide messaging, content and partnerships across Québec and the rest of Canada.
  • Re-launch and scale social media marketing. Build and deliver a structured test-and-learn plan, with clear objectives, measurement and resourcing through hiring and/or agencies.
  • Lead cross-functionally. Get buy-in on your plan, establish owners, timelines and success measures, and make decisions without waiting for perfect information.
  • Lead senior business reviews. Explain drivers of marketing performance, investment choices and recommended actions to senior leaders.
  • Develop your direct team. Set priorities, build capabilities, drive hiring and manage agency performance.

What you'll bring

  • 10+ years in data-driven strategy and transformation, e.g. strategy consulting, in-house marketing or consumer growth, with people management experience.
  • Strong hands-on analytical skills, including advanced Excel skills and basic SQL proficiency. Comfortable going beyond dashboards to investigate data directly.
  • Proven analytical problem-solving, including directly deaveraging performance, investigating root causes and translating findings into investment decisions.
  • Strong understanding of Performance Marketing, including campaign economics, measurement and investment effectiveness.
  • Good consumer intuition and brand judgment, with the ability to evaluate creative work, challenge agencies and improve marketing effectiveness.
  • AI-forward mindset, actively using AI tools and building simple agents to automate work, save time and improve effectiveness.
  • A track record of decisive execution, influencing teams outside your reporting line and delivering measurable results.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, including developing talent and presenting recommendations to senior marketing and non-marketing leaders.
