Reporting to the VP, Credit Modelling & Methodology, the Director, Implementation Assurance Testing will lead the Implementation Assurance Testing (IAT) team, which is accountable for conducting independent verification and validation of all material credit risk models and reporting systems across provisioning (IFRS9/CECL) and stress testing (CCAR/EWST/MST) programs.

In this role, the candidate drives the execution of IAT testing protocols, ensures compliance with SOX control requirements, and maintains the integrity of financial and regulatory reporting processes. The Director manages BAU assurance testing activities, develops and refines testing methodologies, and coordinates with Credit Modeling & Methodology, Enterprise Model Risk Management, and business partners to validate implementations prior to production deployment.

The Director functions as a thought leader on implementation assurance and testing governance, ensuring that IAT processes remain aligned with evolving regulatory requirements, operational standards, and business objectives. This role balances the leadership and governance aspects of assurance testing with direct involvement in technical execution and quality oversight.

What will you do?

  • Executing comprehensive independent verification testing of all credit risk models, system code, and reporting implementations for IFRS9/CECL provisioning and CCAR/EWST/MST stress testing programs.
  • Ensuring model outputs can be reliably reproduced and are not subject to unauthorized modifications.
  • Performing logic and regression testing against approved specifications to validate implementation accuracy.
  • Producing standardized documentation to provide independent assurance to senior management, internal and external auditors, model risk management, and regulators on the testing and integrity of model and reporting system implementations.
  • Logging, prioritization, and communication of issues identified through testing for remediation by process owners.

Develop IAT testing and communicate results

  • Develop and continuously refine IAT testing methodologies, protocols, and documentation standards to ensure comprehensive coverage, scalability, and alignment with best practices and regulatory expectations.
  • Establish testing governance frameworks that balance rigor with operational efficiency.
  • Represent the IAT function at governance forums, model review committees, and with internal & external audit. Articulate test findings, control assessments, and recommendations to senior stakeholders with clarity.
  • Ensure timely delivery of testing and documentation within release schedules to enable production deployment and comprehensive control execution.
  • Escalate critical issues and control deficiencies appropriately.
  • Coach and develop team members, fostering a culture of quality, attention to detail, and continuous improvement. Identify skill gaps, promote professional development, and ensure adequate cross-training within the team.
  • Support the team with the development and implementation of independent testing and generation of regression testing results.
  • Maintain technical documentation and submit change control UAT/PIV evidence for validation and audit review.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • 7 - 10+ years related work experience in credit risk or related area with model development, model validation, or quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of credit risk methodology, including capital estimation, credit risk/stress testing models, and/or direct experience with Expected Credit Loss implementations.

  • Proven ability to execute detailed testing protocols while maintaining strategic perspective.
  • Knowledge of Python or similar language(s).
  • Knowledge of modern code development and code management best practices.
  • Strong technical skills in model testing, code review, and validation techniques.
