As part of the Distribution and Channel Management team, the Director, SLCI Business Growth will lead external advisor recruitment and support internal advisors transitioning to the securities dealer.

This role turns business growth and recruitment priorities into clear execution plans. Success will be measured through recruitment activity, pipeline quality, conversion, advisor experience, and progress against agreed growth targets. The successful candidate will bring wealth management and advisor recruitment experience, an understanding of the Canadian advisor landscape, and the ability to build credible relationships with advisors, field leaders, and business partners. This role has a reporting line to the President SLCSI.

What will you do?

  • Lead the execution of the business growth strategy, with accountability for external advisor recruitment and internal advisor transitions.
  • Partner with senior leaders to establish recruitment priorities and contribute to strategic plans supporting multi-year organic asset growth.
  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies for external advisor teams while helping internal Sun Life advisors understand the value proposition and transition opportunities.
  • Translate recruitment priorities into activity plans, milestones, accountabilities, and regional or market-level actions.
  • Lead prospecting, sourcing, outreach, assessment, follow-up, and conversion practices across the advisor recruitment funnel.
  • Establish and monitor recruitment, pipeline, appointment, onboarding, conversion, and speed-to-productivity measures, and present performance updates to senior leaders.
  • Build relationships with field leaders and coordinate candidate due diligence, contracting, onboarding, transition, and readiness activities with Compliance, Operations, Technology, and other business partners.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Experience leading advisor recruitment and building sustainable candidate pipelines in the wealth management or securities industry.
  • Ability to execute recruitment plans, manage a multi-stage candidate funnel, and deliver appointment, onboarding, and conversion targets.
  • Knowledge of Canadian financial services distribution, advisor business models, and the securities and wealth management environment.
  • Ability to use dashboards, forecasts, recruitment data, and market intelligence to prioritize activity, identify gaps, and guide decisions.
  • Experience coordinating candidate due diligence, onboarding, transitions, and issue resolution across multiple business partners.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build credibility with candidates, advisors, field leaders, senior leaders, and enterprise partners while managing competing priorities in a complex matrix.
  • A post-secondary degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; securities, wealth management, or investment-industry licensing or accreditation is an asset. Travel is required.
  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.
