As the company continues to grow, this role gives you the opportunity to influence how drafting and engineering support fabrication and machining by improving communication, clarifying expectations, and helping teams work together more effectively. • Lead assigned engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery, high quality standards and alignment with strategic goals.

• Assist with scope definition, scheduling, resource planning, and risk assessments for current and upcoming jobs.

• Work cross-functionally with fabrication, machining and leadership teams to drive operational improvements.

• Identify opportunities to improve quality, workflow, and cost-efficiency across engineering operations.

3. Client Coordination & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Serve as a technical point of contact on projects, ensuring client needs align with their specifications and industry standards.

• Collaborate closely with operations, leadership, and front-line teams to meet project milestones and customer expectations.

• Participate in business development opportunities, including representing Goodman Steel at industry events like SIMSA.

• Maintains knowledge of new trends, developments, technologies, and best practices, applying this knowledge to continually improve production efficiency.

  • Experience leading, mentoring, or overseeing drafters or technical design staff.
  • Ability to review, develop, and guide fabrication-ready drawings, layouts, and design concepts.
  • Experience supporting projects through coordination, scheduling input, and technical problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.

  • Additional certifications in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or PMP would be considered an asset.

The Intangibles (Soft Skills):

  • Hands-on, practical leader who enjoys being close to the work and supporting teams on the shop floor.

  • Collaborative and approachable, with the ability to build trust and alignment across departments.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities and keep work moving forward.
