Description
About Executive Millwork
For more than 40 years, Executive Millwork has built the architectural millwork behind commercial, hospitality and public spaces across Western Canada. We take projects from design through fabrication and installation. Right now we’re building millwork for Scotia Place, the new home of the Calgary Flames, and we have more big projects on the way.
The Role
We’re looking for a Drafting Manager to lead our drafting team. You’ll get shop drawings to the floor on time and right the first time. This is a hands-on lead role. Around 80 to 90% of your day is drafting. The rest is leading a team of six drafters and our external drafting partners, setting priorities and keeping the work on track.
You’ll work closely with our project managers, shop foreman and purchasing team. You’ll also have real input into how drafting runs here.
What You’ll Do
• Produce and oversee millwork shop drawings in AutoCAD and Microvellum from architectural IFC drawings
• Review and approve shop drawings, CNC programs and work orders before they go to the shop
• Assign work, set priorities and hold regular check-ins with internal drafters and external partners
• Be the go-to person for constructability, machining and fabrication questions
• Own drafting standards, templates, Microvellum libraries and revision control
• Find recurring errors, fix the root cause and make the handoff from drafting to CNC to shop floor smoother
Why Join Us
• Landmark projects, including Scotia Place
• Room to shape the standards, tools and workflow of a growing drafting team
• A stable, established Calgary shop with 40+ years behind it
• Competitive salary with a performance-based bonus, plus comprehensive benefits
• A family-oriented culture with Beer Fridays, a Stampede BBQ and a Christmas party
Requirements
• 2-year Architectural Technology diploma (SAIT, NAIT or equivalent)
• Millwork drafting experience in a manufacturing shop, with a strong sense of how millwork is built and detailed
• Strong AutoCAD skills; Microvellum is a big plus and Innergy is an asset
• Working knowledge of CNC outputs and AWMAC/NAAWS standards
• Experience leading or mentoring drafters, or you’re ready to step into your first lead role
• A clear communicator who keeps a focused team organized and on schedule
