Key Responsibilities:

  • Build accurate cost budgets from drawings, specifications, and other bid documents.
  • Determine labour, material, and time requirements by reviewing proposals, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Prepare detailed Bills of Materials (BOM) and supporting cost breakdowns for each opportunity.
  • Estimate structured cabling scopes (copper and fiber) and electronic door hardware scopes (electric strikes, magnetic locks, panic hardware, automatic operators) as part of integrated system bids.
  • Lead the coordination of bid proposal development, ensuring all internal stakeholders contribute on schedule.
  • Support the preparation of responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Quotation (RFQs).
  • Communicate cost and pricing analysis clearly to internal teams and decision-makers.

Vendor & Subcontractor Pricing

  • Source competitive pricing from manufacturers, distributors, and subcontractors for each bid.
  • Engage and qualify subcontractors needed to round out scope on a given opportunity.
  • Maintain up-to-date vendor and subcontractor pricing records to support faster turnaround on future bids.
  • Negotiate pricing terms where appropriate to support overall project profitability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Sales, Design, and Project Management teams to align estimates with project scope and client expectations.
  • Coordinate with general contractors and electrical contractors across commercial, high-rise residential, enterprise, and industrial projects to clarify scope, drawings, and pricing assumptions.
  • Participate in client meetings as required to clarify scope or pricing assumptions.
  • Support project teams during installation and closeout with cost-related information as needed.
  • Collaborate with Operations to validate constructability and resourcing assumptions built into estimates.

Technical Knowledge & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain working knowledge of structured cabling, fiber, networking, and security systems products and pricing.
  • Stay current on industry trends, new products, and supplier offerings through ongoing learning and training.
  • Identify opportunities to improve estimating templates, tools, and processes.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
