About GrizzlyTrek Group Ltd.

GrizzlyTrek invests in our people, relationships, and partners, ensuring motivated and ready-to-work individuals meet job opportunities that foster lasting success. We work across Canada in mining, construction, oil and gas, turnarounds, and shutdowns. Dedicated to sustainable employment, we emphasize career opportunities and empowerment for Indigenous communities across Canada. Join us and contribute to building a more inclusive future.

The Role

GrizzlyTrek is seeking experienced Excavator and Dozer Operators to join our valued client's team in Edmonton, Alberta. This is a full-time position paying $38.00 per hour, with multiple projects booked through to winter.
The work covers two streams. In and around the city it is civil earthworks and site preparation, including stripping topsoil, cut and fill, trench and backfill, and building pads, roads and parking areas to grade. Outside the city it is oilfield lease construction and access roads. Crews mobilize out of Edmonton, and operators are home most nights.

What You'll Do

  • Operate excavator and dozer on civil earthworks, site preparation, lease construction and access roads
  • Strip topsoil, move cut and fill, and build pads, roads and parking areas to grade
  • Dig, slope and backfill trench for underground utilities and pipe
  • Work to grade stakes, laser and GPS machine control
  • Complete daily walkarounds, pre-trip inspections and greasing before the machine moves
  • Spot for ground crews, load trucks, and keep ground disturbance clear of buried facilities
  • Participate in pre-job safety meetings, hazard assessments and toolbox talks

What You Bring

  • Verifiable seat time on excavator or dozer in civil or oilfield construction
  • Ability to read grade stakes and hold elevation with minimal supervision
  • Current residency in Edmonton, with reliable transportation to Edmonton area sites
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence
  • CSTS or equivalent, Ground Disturbance, H2S Alive and Standard First Aid
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and work outdoors through the season

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience on both excavator and dozer
  • GPS machine control experience (Trimble or Topcon)
  • Class 1 or Class 3 driver's licence for equipment moves and float work

Work Environment

  • Outdoor construction sites in and around Edmonton, in all weather through the season
  • A mix of urban civil earthworks and rural oilfield lease and road construction
  • Day trips out of Edmonton, with operators home most nights
  • Site specific safety procedures, permits and ground disturbance requirements apply

What We Offer

  • Set rate of $38.00 per hour, stated up front
  • Multiple projects booked through to winter, not a single short job
  • Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications
  • Opportunities for overtime based on operational requirements
  • Life insurance: $100,000 employee / $10,000 spouse / $5,000 per child
  • AD&D insurance with critical illness and cancer coverage
  • Extended health care: drugs, hospital, hearing, orthotics, nursing
  • Paramedical services: chiro, physio, massage, mental health (annual coverage)
  • Vision care: glasses, contacts, laser surgery, and exams
  • Dental care: 80% basic ($2,500), 50% major ($2,500), $2,500 ortho for children
  • Travel insurance: up to $5,000,000 per incident (trips up to 90 days)
  • Ongoing training and career development support
