The Opportunity

Our client, an established automotive wholesaler in Calgary, is looking for an organized and detail-oriented Import & Logistics Coordinator to manage international purchasing and inbound shipments from overseas suppliers through to delivery at its branch locations.

This is a hands-on role involving international freight coordination, Canadian customs compliance, landed-cost calculations and inventory planning. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring shipments arrive on time, import documentation is accurate, and product costs are properly reflected in the company's ERP system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate ocean freight shipments, supplier payments, shipping documentation and container tracking.

  • Liaise with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders and customs brokers to ensure timely shipment and customs clearance.

  • Support CBSA compliance, including import duties, trade-remedy requirements and SIMA/anti-dumping reporting.

  • Calculate landed costs, including FOB pricing, foreign exchange and applicable duties, and maintain accurate supplier costs in the ERP system.

  • Monitor container performance, shipment lead times and delivery schedules, communicating potential delays to purchasing and branch teams.

  • Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams on replenishment and reorder timing across multiple branches.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in import coordination, international logistics or supply chain operations.

  • Working knowledge of Incoterms, ocean freight and Canadian customs procedures.

  • Understanding of import duties and trade-remedy requirements (SIMA experience would be an asset).

  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills.

  • Experience dealing directly with overseas suppliers is preferred.

Automotive, tire, industrial distribution or wholesale import experience would be considered an asset.
