Job description

Purpose. Performance. People.

Joining CPP Investments means joining one of the world’s most admired and respected institutional investors to drive a single mandate: to deliver strong, sustainable returns for generations of Canadians.

With a long-term horizon and global reach, we deploy capital at scale across public and private markets. Our size, stability, and disciplined investment philosophy allow us to pursue complex opportunities and build enduring partnerships worldwide.

For our people, this means meaningful work with tangible impact, real opportunity, and collaboration with exceptional colleagues who value partnership and performance. Here, you’ll contribute to outcomes that matter alongside team members committed to excellence and shared success.

The Role

The CPA Program is an eight-month internship designed for students seeking a co-op or internship opportunity and who are interested in pursuing a CPA designation. As an Intern, CPA Program, you will join CPP Investments for an 8-month term from January to August 2027.

The Team

This internship also serves as a key talent pathway into CPP Investments’ full-time CPA Rotational Analyst Program. High-performing interns who demonstrate strong performance and an interest in obtaining their CPA designation may be considered for a return offer.

Financial Policy & Reporting

As an Intern, you will join the Financial Policy & Reporting team, which is responsible for establishing CPP Investments’ accounting policies and supporting compliance with the CPPIB Act and applicable accounting standards. The team plays an important role in delivering transparent, high-quality financial reporting to external stakeholders and maintaining a strong financial control environment.

You will gain practical exposure to financial reporting and accounting policy within a large, global investment organization, supporting the team’s work across areas such as financial statement preparation, accounting analysis, internal controls, and governance. You will also gain an understanding of how accounting and reporting considerations connect to CPP Investments’ broader investment activities and financial operations.

Internship Experience

Your experience begins with Intern Orientation, where you’ll connect with fellow interns and gain a broad understanding of how the Fund operates across teams and functions. Throughout the term, you will participate in organization-wide events and initiatives while building your skills through hands-on, on-the-job learning aligned with the Financial Policy & Reporting team’s priorities.

You’ll also participate in a cross-functional Intern Hackathon, collaborating with peers across departments to solve real business challenges. The program emphasizes mentorship, networking, and social events to help you build meaningful connections across the organization. Interns are encouraged to get involved in our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to expand their networks and contribute to our inclusive culture.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate students specializing in accounting or finance who are eligible for an 8-month work term and intend to return to their studies following the internship
  • Intention to pursue a CPA designation to complement your academic background
  • Demonstrated track record of strong academic performance, complemented by involvement in extracurricular activities
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skill
  • Intellectual curiosity and a genuine interest in accounting, finance, and analytics
  • A commitment to integrity, collaboration, and high performance

To apply, please include a cover letter, resume and transcripts (full unofficial version).

You are motivated to contribute to something larger than yourself, approach complex challenges with rigor, and hold yourself to high standards in a collaborative, performance-driven environment.

We provide colleagues with cutting-edge AI tools, dedicated learning time, and practical support to help them deliver with greater impact.

Inclusion & Accessibility

CPP Investments is committed to equitable access to employment and building a workforce that reflects diverse talent and perspectives. If you require accommodation at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know and we will work with you to meet your needs.
