As a youth-serving organization committed to creating safe spaces for youth, staff, and the broader community, we recognize that our commitment to reconciliation must begin within. We are not just visitors or workers here; we are stewards of this land, and we are part of the Treaty relationship.

Build with Skill. Lead with Craftsmanship.

Do you take pride in building things that last? Are you passionate about quality workmanship, mentoring others, and seeing a project come together from start to finish?

Street Culture Project is looking for a Journeyperson Carpenter to join our Construction Services team. This is an opportunity to combine your technical expertise with site leadership while contributing to projects that strengthen our organization and the communities we serve.

Working alongside the Project Manager, you'll serve as the lead carpenter on site—building, mentoring, solving problems, and ensuring every project is completed safely, professionally, and to a high standard.

What You'll Do

As our Journeyperson Carpenter, you'll lead by example through hands-on craftsmanship and technical leadership.

You'll:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute construction work.

  • Build, install, repair, and renovate residential and commercial structures including framing, roofing, foundations, decks, stairs, doors, windows, trim, flooring, and other finish carpentry.

  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install wood, composite, and other construction materials with precision.

  • Ensure all work complies with Saskatchewan building codes, construction standards, and health and safety requirements.

  • Lead and mentor Labourers and apprentices by providing coaching, technical guidance, and daily direction.

  • Coordinate day-to-day site activities to ensure projects progress efficiently and safely.

  • Monitor workmanship and maintain high standards of quality throughout every stage of construction.

  • Identify construction challenges and collaborate with the Project Manager to develop practical solutions.

  • Maintain safe, clean, and organized job sites while promoting a strong safety culture.

  • Build positive relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and inspectors through professional communication and service.

What You Bring

You're a skilled tradesperson who enjoys solving problems, leading by example, and taking pride in delivering quality work.

You'll bring:

  • Journeyperson Carpenter Certification (Red Seal preferred)

  • Minimum five (5) years of residential and/or commercial carpentry experience

  • Experience reading blueprints, construction drawings, and technical specifications

  • Strong knowledge of framing, finishing carpentry, deck construction, renovations, and general building practices

  • Working knowledge of Saskatchewan building codes and occupational health and safety requirements

  • Experience supervising or mentoring apprentices and construction crews

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills

  • A commitment to quality workmanship, professionalism, and teamwork

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence

  • WHMIS Certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Standard First Aid/CPR Certification is an asset

  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and woodworking equipment

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in a variety of weather conditions

Why Work With Us?

At Street Culture Project, our Construction Services team builds more than structures—we create safe, functional spaces that support youth, families, and the programs that make a difference in our community.

As a Journeyperson Carpenter, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Mentor and develop the next generation of skilled tradespeople.

  • Work alongside a collaborative team that values craftsmanship, safety, and continuous improvement.

  • Receive competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and employer RRSP matching.

  • Be part of an organization where your work has a lasting impact on the community.
