ROLE OVERVIEW

Air Inuit is seeking an experienced and solutions-oriented operational professional to provide leadership, coordination and support to the Daily Operations Coordinator (DOC) team.

In this key operational role, you will help ensure effective team coverage, consistent operational practices and sound decision-making across daily operations. Acting as a primary point of contact for operational matters involving the DOC team, you will coordinate schedules and staffing needs, support training and onboarding, maintain operational standards and procedures, and help resolve issues before they require escalation to senior management.

You will also play an important role in continuous improvement by reviewing operational events, identifying recurring challenges and ensuring lessons learned are translated into stronger processes and more consistent practices.

THE ROLE IN DEPTH

Team coordination and scheduling

  • Establish and maintain DOC team coverage schedules to ensure adequate operational support.
  • Coordinate coverage for absences related to illness, leave, training and other staffing needs.
  • Anticipate potential staffing shortages and develop solutions before they affect operational coverage.
  • Review and approve employee timesheets in Synerion.

Operational coordination and escalation

  • Act as a primary point of contact for other departments regarding day-to-day operational matters involving the DOC team.
  • Address and help resolve interdepartmental operational issues before escalation to senior management whenever possible.
  • Identify significant operational risks and unresolved issues and escalate them to the appropriate level.
  • Maintain effective communication and coordination between the DOC team, OCC Manager and other departments.

Training and onboarding

  • Coordinate the onboarding and training of new DOC team members on company procedures, operational systems such as AIMS, and applicable Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs).
  • Ensure new team members understand established operating procedures, escalation criteria and decision-making expectations.
  • Coordinate competency assessments and recommend when employees are ready to perform duties independently, in accordance with company training and approval requirements.

Standardisation and quality

  • Maintain and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), checklists and operational decision-making frameworks.
  • Promote consistency in the management of recurring operational situations, including irregular operations, cargo prioritisation, crew replacement and aircraft changes.
  • Identify recurring errors, procedural gaps and opportunities to improve operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Communicate procedural updates and ensure changes are clearly understood and consistently applied across the team.

Post-event review and continuous improvement

  • Plan and lead debriefing sessions following significant operational disruptions to identify causes, capture lessons learned and establish corrective actions.
  • Communicate relevant findings and recommend procedural improvements when appropriate.
  • Contribute to the identification and reporting of safety concerns through the company's Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Follow up on agreed corrective actions to ensure they are implemented.

Operational guidance

  • Provide guidance and participate in operational discussions when required, including meetings that may occasionally take place outside regular shifts or rotations.

WHAT SETS YOU APART

You are a calm and confident operational professional who can see the bigger picture while remaining attentive to the details that keep a 24/7 aviation operation moving.

You bring:

  • Strong experience in airline operations, operational control or a comparable aviation environment.
  • A solid understanding of operational coordination and irregular operations.
  • Strong judgement and the ability to make timely decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to anticipate staffing and operational challenges and develop practical solutions.
  • Experience coaching, training or supporting employees in operational roles.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • The confidence to resolve issues independently while recognising when escalation is required.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple operational priorities.
  • A thorough understanding of SOPs, operational compliance and safety-focused decision-making.
  • Knowledge of AIMS and the Canadian Aviation Regulations is a strong asset.
  • A continuous-improvement mindset and the ability to turn operational lessons into practical improvements.

COMPENSATION

  • Salary and benefits are determined according to company policy.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Full-time position in a dynamic aviation operations environment.
  • The role requires flexibility to support operational needs and changing priorities.
  • Availability may occasionally be required outside the regular work schedule or rotation to provide operational guidance or participate in meetings.
  • The position involves close collaboration with the DOC team, OCC management and multiple operational departments.
  • The role requires sound judgement and the ability to remain effective during irregular operations and other time-sensitive situations.
