Job description

Your Opportunity:

Join the healthcare team at Calgary Remand Centre (CRC) within a secure correctional environment. CRC provides healthcare services to more than 700 individuals and experiences frequent admissions, transfers, court movements, and releases, creating a fast-paced clinical setting where no two shifts are the same. As an LPN, you will provide care to a diverse patient population with complex medical, mental health, and substance use needs. Working to full scope of practice, responsibilities include health assessments, admission screening, medication administration, withdrawal management and treatment, discharge planning, chronic disease management, wound care, and urgent clinical interventions. LPNs play a key role in operating nursing clinics that provide primary care, episodic care, and assessment of emergent health concerns. You will also respond to medical emergencies and code situations throughout the facility, requiring strong assessment skills, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to act decisively in dynamic situations. This position is ideal for nurses who enjoy variety, autonomy, clinical complexity, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the opportunity to positively impact the health outcomes of a vulnerable population. PLEASE NOTE: This posting is scheduled to close at 23:59 on the posting end date but may be filled earlier if a Regular Employee holding a position within this unit or program expresses interest by 23:59 on the 5th calendar day following the posting date. If no Regular Employee from this workplace expresses interest by the deadline, the vacancy will be filled in accordance with the collective agreement.
