Job description

KEEP OUR MAINTENANCE TEAM SAFE, EFFECTIVE, AND MOVING FORWARD

At Vitalus Nutrition, reliable operations depend on great equipment — and great people.

We’re looking for a Maintenance Supervisor who can bring both technical maintenance experience and strong frontline leadership to our manufacturing operation. You’ll lead and support our maintenance technicians, coordinate day-to-day maintenance priorities, respond to equipment challenges, and work closely with Operations and other teams to keep our facility running safely and reliably.

This could be a great opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor, or for a Maintenance Lead, Lead Hand, Senior Millwright, Senior Industrial Electrician, or Senior Maintenance Technician who is ready to take the next step into formal leadership.

If you enjoy solving problems, developing people, and working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where no two days are exactly the same, we’d love to hear from you.

Salary Range: $95,000–$105,000 annually

Location: Abbotsford, BC

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Lead and Support the Maintenance Team

· Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and support to maintenance technicians.

· Set clear expectations around safety, quality, performance, and accountability.

· Coach and develop team members to strengthen technical skills, confidence, and ownership.

· Address performance, attendance, and reliability concerns in a timely and professional manner.

· Help build a positive, collaborative, and safety-focused maintenance culture.

Coordinate Maintenance Activities

· Prioritize and coordinate preventative, corrective, planned, and emergency maintenance activities.

· Assign work based on operational priorities, equipment needs, and team capabilities.

· Respond to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions, adjusting priorities as needed.

· Ensure incomplete or follow-up work is clearly documented and communicated.

· Coordinate contractors, maintenance resources, and shutdown activities as required.

Maintain High Standards for Safety and Quality

· Ensure maintenance work is completed safely and to established standards before equipment is returned to service.

· Verify equipment functionality, guarding, cleanliness, safety systems, and operational readiness.

· Reinforce lockout, energy isolation, permit, food safety, and other required safety procedures.

· Identify and address maintenance-related safety, quality, or compliance concerns.

· Ensure temporary repairs and outstanding maintenance items are appropriately documented and followed through.

Improve Equipment Reliability

· Identify recurring equipment issues and support practical corrective actions.

· Help improve preventative maintenance activities and maintenance processes.

· Identify opportunities to reduce repeat failures, downtime, and unnecessary maintenance work.

· Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve equipment performance and reliability.

· Partner with Operations, Maintenance Planning, Reliability, Engineering, and Leadership to solve problems and improve results.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

· 3-5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing, processing, or similarly complex operational environment.

· Previous experience as a Maintenance Supervisor, Team Lead, Lead Hand, Senior Technician, or in another position where you’ve coordinated work and provided direction to others.

· Strong understanding of preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and safe maintenance practices.

· Experience using a CMMS/EAM or other maintenance work-order system.

· Ability to prioritize competing maintenance needs and make sound decisions during breakdowns or changing production demands.

· Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with maintenance, production, and operational teams.

· A practical, hands-on leadership style with an interest in coaching, developing, and supporting others.

NICE TO HAVE

We’d be especially interested in hearing from you if you also have:

· A Red Seal or other trade certification in a maintenance-related discipline, such as Millwright or Industrial Electrician.

· Experience in food, dairy, beverage, pharmaceutical, or another GMP/regulated manufacturing environment.

· Experience coordinating contractors, shutdowns, or larger maintenance activities.

· Exposure to maintenance planning, reliability, root cause analysis, or continuous improvement.

· Post-secondary education in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Management, or a related field.

WHY JOIN VITALUS NUTRITION?

As our Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll have the opportunity to make a direct impact on both our equipment and our people.

You’ll help strengthen how maintenance work gets done, develop the capabilities of our technicians, improve equipment reliability, and contribute to a safe and successful manufacturing operation.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who brings the right combination of technical knowledge, leadership potential, sound judgment, and a willingness to get involved.

You don’t need to check every box to apply. If you have strong industrial maintenance experience and have taken on leadership responsibilities as a Supervisor, Lead Hand, Team Lead, or senior member of a maintenance team, we encourage you to apply.

Join Vitalus Nutrition and help us build a strong, capable maintenance team that keeps our operations running safely and reliably.
