Job description

About Santis Health Inc.

Across Canada, people are working to improve health care. Innovators are building better systems. Advocates are pushing for improved access. Leaders are driving change that matters. At Santis Health, we don’t just consult on health care – we partner with those bold enough to transform it. We accelerate health system innovation, guide corporate strategy and advance advocacy across Canada’s health and life science sectors because we believe in the same things our clients do: better outcomes, better access and better health for all of us.

We’ve built a team from coast-to-coast with diverse experience in management consulting, communications and government affairs. We bring the right minds together to solve complex problems with discipline, care and unwavering focus on the human impact of every decision we make.

The Position

Santis Health is seeking a growth-oriented leader to join our Management Consulting practice at the Manager, Senior Manager or Director level. This hybrid role, based in our Toronto office, is well suited to a builder: an individual motivated by winning new work, opening doors across the health system and shaping the future direction of the practice.

The ideal candidate brings a broad network across Canadian health care, spanning governments and agencies, health system organizations, hospitals, providers, life sciences companies, associations and not-for-profits. They have a proven ability to convert relationships into partnerships and partnerships into lasting impact. The successful candidate will originate and lead client engagements, build and develop high-performing teams and help define the service offerings that drive the practice’s growth. Santis Health will set the level and scope of the role based on the successful candidate’s experience and readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of client engagements as the primary relationship holder and a trusted advisor to senior client leaders.
  • Oversee multiple workstreams or engagements, with accountability for quality, scope, timelines, budget and engagement profitability.
  • Lead and contribute to client deliverables, including reports and presentations, as well as facilitated workshops, board sessions and retreats.
  • Deliver insightful, practical solutions to complex client needs through structured problem-solving, rigorous analysis and established methodologies.
  • Maintain current knowledge of health care and government trends and apply it to anticipate client needs and new opportunities.

Business Development and Growth

  • Deliver compelling pitches and presentations to prospective and existing clients.
  • Expand existing accounts by identifying follow-on work and cross-sell opportunities, including with our Government Affairs and Communications practices.
  • Structure engagements by translating client needs into a clear scope.
  • Strengthen Santis’ market profile through thought leadership, points of view, speaking engagements and active participation in health sector networks.
  • Originate new business by building and leveraging a broad network across governments, health system organizations, providers, health, digital and life sciences companies, associations and not-for-profits.

Practice Building

  • Contribute to the Management Consulting practice’s growth strategy, service offerings and go-to-market priorities.
  • Develop new offerings, tools, templates and case studies, and maintain the practice’s project catalogue.
  • Champion digital and artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled ways of working, applying sound judgement regarding accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Contribute to the practice’s performance and growth targets, with accountability commensurate with level.

People Leadership

  • Manage direct reports and lead project teams, delegating effectively and balancing workloads.
  • Coach and mentor staff and associates through regular, specific feedback and hands-on guidance.
  • Lead performance management by setting clear goals, assessing performance fairly and addressing issues early.
  • Strengthen leadership capacity through development plans, stretch assignments and succession planning.
  • Contribute to recruitment and onboarding, and foster an innovative, inclusive and team-oriented culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, health administration, public policy or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Prior management consulting experience is required.
  • A minimum of six years of relevant experience for Manager-level candidates and 10 years for Director-level candidates.
  • A broad, active network across the Canadian health sector – spanning government, health system, provider, life sciences and not-for-profit organizations – and a demonstrated ability to draw on it to originate work.
  • A demonstrated track record in business development, including contributing to or leading proposals, pitches and RFP responses, and growing client accounts. Director-level candidates will have a record of originating and winning work.
  • Experience shaping or growing a practice, service line or offering, such as launching new services, building tools or methodologies, or developing thought leadership.
  • Exceptional account management capabilities, with the ability to balance competing client priorities.
  • People management experience, including managing direct reports and developing talent.
  • Working experience in health strategy or health policy, and an understanding of how Canadian health systems are organized, governed and funded.
  • Strong priority-setting and time management skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong executive presence with senior leaders and boards.
