Job description

The Manager, HR Projects & Transformation helps turn T&T's HR priorities into measurable outcomes by bringing practical project management, integrated planning and execution discipline to initiatives across the HR function.

Reporting directly to the HR Lead, this hands-on role works closely with the HR Leadership Team, functional leaders and cross-functional partners to connect priorities, clarify accountabilities, manage dependencies and keep complex work moving. The Manager provides visibility, constructive challenge and practical recommendations while accountable functional leaders retain ownership of their initiatives, decisions and outcomes.

Success requires sound judgment, the confidence to challenge respectfully, strong executive communication and an ability to introduce just enough structure to improve delivery without creating unnecessary bureaucracy. This is an execution-focused role, not simply a project reporting or coordination position.

You Will:

  • Translate strategy into delivery: Partner with the HR Lead and HR Leadership Team to translate priorities into integrated roadmaps, clear outcomes, sequencing, milestones, accountabilities and resource considerations.
  • Drive execution discipline: Proactively challenge unclear ownership, missed milestones, unresolved dependencies and delivery risks; work with accountable leaders to identify corrective actions and maintain momentum.
  • Manage portfolio visibility: Maintain an integrated view of HR initiatives, status, decisions, risks, dependencies, capacity constraints and interdependencies to support informed prioritization.
  • Enable practical governance: Establish fit-for-purpose project and portfolio management standards, tools, routines and reporting that strengthen execution without adding unnecessary administration.
  • Connect cross-functional work: Coordinate dependencies across HR, business functions, technology teams, vendors and enterprise partners; facilitate timely decisions and escalation of material issues.
  • Support prioritization and sequencing: Bring evidence and options to discussions about competing priorities, capacity, delivery trade-offs and implementation readiness.
  • Develop executive decision materials: Create concise presentations, storyboards, recommendations and progress updates that turn complex information into clear choices, decisions and actions.
  • Integrate change and delivery: Partner with Organizational Change Management and project owners to incorporate stakeholder readiness, communications, learning and adoption requirements into project plans and milestones.
  • Track benefits and outcomes: Work with functional owners to establish meaningful success measures, monitor progress toward intended business, employee and HR outcomes, and support post-implementation reviews.
  • Improve how work gets done: Identify opportunities to simplify work, improve handoffs, strengthen processes and use technology or data to support scalable execution.
  • Provide targeted delivery support: Lead or directly support selected cross-functional HR projects and emerging priorities when required, with scope and decision authority explicitly agreed.

You Should Have / Be:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in project or program management, transformation, consulting or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience driving complex cross-functional initiatives or portfolios from planning through delivery, including direct accountability for meaningful project outcomes.
  • Strong planning, prioritization, governance, risk management, dependency management and problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to translate strategic direction and ambiguity into practical plans, clear decisions and sustained execution.
  • Confidence to influence, constructively challenge and create momentum with stakeholders without relying on formal authority.
  • Excellent analytical, facilitation, written communication and executive presentation skills, including strong storytelling and visual communication capability.
  • Ability to balance detailed execution with an enterprise perspective and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel; experience with project management, analytics and visualization tools is an asset.
  • Experience in HR, retail, grocery or other multi-site operational environments is an asset; project management certification is an asset.
