Job description

At CBCL Limited, we’re a dynamic, forward-thinking engineering and environmental consulting firm passionate about shaping sustainable, resilient communities. We’re looking for an experienced water and wastewater professional to join us as Manager, Process Department, leading a team focused on the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater treatment solutions. This opportunity will appeal to a process engineering leader who is ready to lead and grow a talented group of professionals— supporting their development, managing client relationships, and ensuring technical excellence across meaningful infrastructure projects.

In this role, you’ll oversee the successful delivery of process engineering work and help drive the continued growth of CBCL's Water and Wastewater practice. If you’re motivated by collaboration, innovation, mentorship, and building strong teams and client relationships, this is an opportunity to make a real impact.

You’ll be part of a team delivering essential water and wastewater treatment projects that support public health, environmental stewardship, and resilient communities across Atlantic Canada and beyond. Our Water and Wastewater group takes pride in developing practical, sustainable, and technically sound process solutions for municipal and industrial clients—from treatment upgrades and expansions to new facilities and long-term infrastructure planning.

What You’ll Do

Lead and Inspire

  • Champion a positive, collaborative, and high-performing culture that reflects CBCL’s core values.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop talent to support professional growth and team success.
  • Conduct performance reviews, establish development goals, and foster an environment of continuous learning.

Drive Operational and Financial Success

  • Oversee the department’s financial performance — from utilization and sales to profitability and forecasting.
  • Conduct monthly project reviews, identify challenges early, and work with project managers to maintain strong results.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic planning and budgeting to support long-term business growth.

Deliver Quality and Build Relationships

  • Lead water and wastewater treatment projects, ensuring technical quality, safety, innovation, and client satisfaction.
  • Strengthen existing client partnerships and identify new opportunities for collaboration.
  • Support proposal development and RFP responses, working with the VP, Director, practice leads, and project managers to position CBCL for success.
  • Promote a proactive safety and quality culture consistent with CBCL’s Safety Program, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in consulting engineering and water and wastewater treatment project delivery.
  • Proven ability to manage, mentor, and motivate multidisciplinary teams while fostering a positive and inclusive culture.
  • Strong understanding of financial performance metrics, forecasting, and resource planning.
  • Skilled at identifying opportunities, managing risk, and contributing to the long-term growth of CBCL’s Water and Wastewater process engineering
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in leading complex water and wastewater treatment projects from planning through design and delivery, meeting quality, safety, regulatory, and profitability goals.

Applicants with comparable experience and skillsets will be considered.

What we can offer you:

  • A competitive compensation package effective on your first day of employment:
    • Comprehensive health and dental benefits
    • CAAT Defined Benefit Pension Plan with employer contributions
    • Generous vacation allowance commensurate with experience
  • Maternity or Parental leave top-up
  • Health spending account
  • Wellness incentive
  • Membership dues reimbursement
  • Education and lifelong learning subsidization
  • Community volunteering incentive
  • Employee Family Assistance Program
  • Public transit subsidy

In addition to the above benefits, we offer:

  • Flexible work hours with occasional work-from-home opportunities, supporting both your professional and personal commitments.
  • Diverse team with a wide range of experience and expertise.
  • Exposure to a variety of projects.
  • Support to develop skills and pursue projects related to your own interests.
  • Collaboration between multiple disciplines and levels of expertise.
