Job description

Who We Are 🇨🇦

Tetra Digital Group is Canada’s leading institutional digital asset infrastructure provider, and right now, we’re at an inflection point five years in the making.

As Canada’s first and only regulated digital asset custodian, we’ve built the institutional foundation the market now demands. We’re backed by Urbana Corporation, National Bank, ATB Financial, Wealthsimple, Purpose Unlimited, Shakepay, Shopify, and Coinbase Ventures — some of the most consequential names in Canadian finance and fintech.

We operate two interconnected businesses: Tetra Trust, our regulated custody arm; and CADD, a compliant on-chain payment rail backed 1:1 by Canadian dollars.

In May 2026, we launched CADD — Canada’s first CAD-backed stablecoin issued by a regulated financial institution — following approval from Alberta Treasury Board and Finance. It’s live on Base, Ethereum, and Tempo today, with Solana next. CoinDesk and BNN Bloomberg covered it as the arrival of Canada’s first regulated digital dollar. 🚀

Here’s the problem we’re actually solving: Canada clears roughly $424 billion every business day, and much of the retail payment infrastructure underneath it was designed in the 1980s. Batch windows. Cut-off times. Weekends off. We’re the team replacing that with rails that settle continuously, programmatically, and under real regulatory oversight.

We’re a team of under 30. The infrastructure we’ve built punches well above that number, and so does the opportunity ahead.

The Role ⚙️

You keep the promise behind every CADD.

Every CADD in circulation is a promise: one token, one Canadian dollar, held in reserve and redeemable on demand. When an exchange mints $5 million on a Friday afternoon, or a payments partner redeems at 11pm on a Sunday, the cash and the chain have to agree, to the cent, every time. Operations is where that promise is kept or broken. 💵

This is a genuine ownership role, not a back-office queue. You’ll own how CADD gets minted, redeemed, reconciled, and reported — and you’ll do it inside a licensed trust company, which means your processes become audit evidence and client diligence answers. A reconciliation that gets read by an attester hits differently than one that gets read by nobody.

Here’s the edge, stated plainly: for a stablecoin, an operational failure isn’t a bad day, it’s a headline. 🔥 The history of stablecoins that got reserves, redemptions, or reporting wrong is public, permanent, and instructive. We intend to stay out of it, and we’re hiring the person who helps guarantee that.

You’ll report to the Director of Operations, CADD and partner closely with our compliance, finance, legal, engineering, and partnerships leads.

What You’ll Own 🎯

  • Mint and redeem, end to end. Day-to-day issuance and redemption: fiat in, tokens out, tokens burned, fiat back, inside the turnaround times we promise clients. You’ll design the workflows, run them, and make them faster without making them looser.
  • Reserves and reconciliation. Daily reconciliation between on-chain supply across every chain we’re live on, reserve account balances, and our internal ledger. A break gets found by you before it gets found by anyone else. 🔍
  • Client onboarding. Onboarding for the exchanges, fintechs, payment companies, and corporates who want direct mint and redeem access, with KYC, KYB, and AML done properly and quickly. Seamless for the client, airtight for the regulator.
  • Banking partners and vendors. Day-to-day ownership of our relationships with [reserve banks], [attestation firm], [blockchain analytics provider], and other service providers. You’ll hold them to their service levels, and hold yourself to yours.
  • Controls that constrain you, too. 🔐 We’re a trust company, so segregation of duties is real. You’ll help design maker-checker approvals, transaction limits, and freeze and blocklist procedures — including limits on your own authority. If that sounds like a loss of power rather than a mark of a serious operation, this isn’t your role.
  • Operational risk and incident response. Mis-sent funds, a delayed wire, a congested chain, a partner bank down on a holiday. You’ll map what can go wrong, write the runbooks, and lead the response when it does. An untested contingency plan is a rumour.
  • Reporting and evidence, automated. Reserve reports, attestation support, regulatory filings, and transaction monitoring evidence generated by the system instead of assembled by a human in a spreadsheet the night before it’s due. 📋
  • Metrics that mean something. KPIs for mint and redeem turnaround, reconciliation breaks, onboarding time, and exceptions — reviewed often and actually acted on.
  • The team that comes next. As CADD volume grows, you’ll help hire, mentor, and lead the operations analysts who join you, with a culture of accountability from day one.

What We’re Looking For 🔍

  • 5+ years in payments, treasury, banking, or fintech operations, including ownership of processes where an error cost real money
  • Payments fluency. Wires, EFT, [Lynx], settlement timing, and cut-offs — and what actually happens when a payment goes sideways
  • Reconciliation as a craft. You’ve owned daily recs across multiple systems, and you can tell a timing difference from a real break on sight
  • Real KYC, KYB, and AML experience. Onboarding, transaction monitoring, and escalation — not just knowing what the acronyms stand for
  • A controlled mindset. You design processes where the easy way and the right way are the same way
  • You automate. Advanced spreadsheets at minimum, plus SQL, scripting, or workflow tools you’ve used to replace a manual process that other people now rely on
  • Communication under pressure. You can explain a delayed redemption to a client, a bank, and a compliance officer without any of them feeling managed
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, operations management, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Crypto experience is a plus, not a requirement. If you’ve run payment or treasury operations at a bank, a payments processor, or a fintech that survived a real audit, you already have the harder half of this job. We’ll teach you the chains.

Extra points for: 🏆

  • You’ve worked on stablecoin, e-money, or prepaid issuance, where every unit outstanding has to be backed by something real
  • CAMS or a similar AML or financial crime certification
  • You’ve been through a SOC 2 Type II, a reserve attestation, or a provincial regulatory examination and lived
  • You’ve built an operations function from scratch, not just run one someone else built
  • You have a strong, specific opinion about weekend liquidity and you’re right

What You Get 💼

  • 💰 $145,000–$180,000 base salary, commensurate with experience
  • 🦷 Comprehensive health, dental, and paramedical coverage
  • 🌱 $1,000 annual learning budget for compliance and payments certifications, courses, and conferences
  • 🏢 Hybrid Toronto or Calgary — at least 3 days a week in the office, with real flexibility around the rest
  • 🏝 Generous vacation, and the cultural expectation that you actually take it
  • 🇨🇦 A front-row seat to Canada’s digital dollar — this is a rare opportunity to be part of something that doesn’t exist yet
  • 👀 A small, high-calibre team where your work is visible, your contributions are felt, and your growth is real

A Note on Fit 🧭

Tetra moves fast and the expectations are high. We’re not a place that slows down to accommodate bureaucracy or process for its own sake. But we’re also a licensed trust company issuing a regulated dollar, and some things genuinely cannot break. Holding both of those at once is the actual skill.

Some honest specifics, because you’ll ask in the interview anyway and we’d rather answer now:

  • The chain never closes; the banks do. CADD moves 24/7, but wires don’t move on weekends or holidays. Part of this job is designing for that gap, and some off-hours coverage is real and shared. 📱
  • You’ll inherit some things you didn’t build. CADD went live in May 2026, and some of what exists was built to get live, not to scale. We’d rather you see it in week one than week ten.
  • You will not be a solo function forever. Operations headcount grows with CADD volume. If you want to eventually lead it, say so in your application — that’s a conversation we’re happy to have.
  • You’ll be building controls, not just throughput. Some of this job is making it easy for clients to move money, and some of it is making sure nobody, including you, can move it alone. Both matter.

If you’ve spent your career waiting for a fully defined job description before getting started, this isn’t the right fit. But if you see a gap and fill it, thrive in ambiguity, and take real ownership of outcomes, this role was built for you.

If that sounds energizing rather than exhausting, we’d love to hear from you. 🤝

How to Apply ✍️

Submit your resume along with thoughtful answers to the application questions. We’re not looking for perfect answers, we’re looking for honest ones. Tell us who you are, what drives you, and why this role at this moment makes sense for you.

Don’t meet every bullet? Give us your pitch anyway and tell us why you’d be great. We hire for trajectory and judgment, not checklists.

Tetra is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply and will provide accommodation throughout the hiring process upon request.
