Working in close synergy with the Project Management Performance and Practices team, this person oversees the implementation, deployment, and optimal adoption of project tracking methodologies, standards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and governance tools. Through coaching, coordination, and field-level feedback, they help ensure the consistency, quality, and business value of performance data, support an objective and shared view of project delivery, and drive continuous improvement across the PMO. The position involves leading PMO transformation initiatives, but does not entail direct decision-making authority or operational responsibility for project delivery.
YOU’LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
Operationalize project management practices and standards: Deploy, apply, and tailor established methodologies, templates, and guidelines to ensure consistent usage aligned with real-world project contexts.
Lead PMO transformation initiatives as a Project Manager: Drive strategic transformation initiatives, such as the rollout of new project management tools.
Support the adoption and use of performance indicators: Assist project teams and project PCOs in understanding, interpreting, and leveraging established metrics and dashboards, while providing structured field feedback on their relevance and applicability.
Contribute to the evolution and adoption of PMO tools: Support the rollout, optimal use, and adherence to usage principles of PMO tools, ensuring alignment with defined practices and metrics in collaboration with the Performance and Practices team.
Coach and support users: Train, advise, and guide Project Managers, project PCOs, and PMO teams in adopting practices, metrics, and tools, serving as a functional and methodological point of contact.
Drive continuous improvement through field feedback: Identify pain points, operational challenges, and improvement opportunities from the ground up, and formulate concrete, pragmatic recommendations to evolve the practices, metrics, and governance mechanisms led by the Performance and Practices team.
YOU’LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:
Relevant university degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in project management.
Years of experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in complex project management, including 5 to 8 years managing projects within a PMO environment. Experience in the manufacturing sector is an asset.
Strong operational expertise in project management; proficiency in traditional, agile, and hybrid methodologies; solid understanding of the end-to-end project lifecycle (from feasibility to closure); proficiency in PMO tools (Jira, Smartsheet, Power BI, or equivalents); and the ability to leverage and interpret performance metrics and dashboards.
Ability to work on a daily basis with English-speaking stakeholders outside of Quebec.
Deep understanding of project management practices and prior project delivery experience: Proven track record managing projects, with the ability to apply and clearly communicate project management frameworks, methods, and standards (traditional, agile, or hybrid) across diverse operational settings.
Performance analysis and interpretation: Ability to understand, interpret, and explain performance indicators and dashboards to support a reliable and shared view of project delivery.
Systems thinking and alignment across practices, tools, and metrics: Capacity to identify and flag discrepancies between practices, PMO tools, data, and user behaviors, contributing to their overall alignment.
Communication, coaching, and influence: Strong ability to train, coach, and influence Project Managers and project PCOs without direct authority in adopting PMO standards.
Solution-oriented mindset and continuous improvement: Ability to identify field-level pain points, propose practical improvements, and support the pragmatic evolution of governance practices and mechanisms.
